When America’s regime historians reflect on history’s tragedies and travesties, they always praise Pax Americana. That is the idea that American hegemony brought peace to the world.

Conveniently, they leave out the horrors of it.

Naturally, regime historians, the ones we are here (at the Mises Institute’s Revisionist History of War Conference, in Auburn, Alabama, May 16) to counter, speak a lot about Hitler, but hardly ever mention Hiroshima.

Likewise has Israel shaped its past, mixing some history with myth, to render a myth-history.  The propaganda sustaining Israel’s counterfeit history is called Hasbara, explanation in Hebrew.

Hasbara constructs serve to coat Israel’s real crimes against humanity with ideological respectability, to give these some imagined purity of purpose. Think of Hasbara as the steady supply of bogus, artificial constructs to rape reality.

Undeniably, American foreign policy has a certain narrative talent. The injustices of imperial power, notwithstanding, people are persuaded by the strut of it. Less obvious is the appeal of Israeli Hasbara and the Jewish supremacy that goes with it—and has seduced many Christians into ignoring Christ’s core teachings.

Christ commands care, not for the oppressor and the predator, but for the poor and the oppressed.

Hasbara and official myth-history aside, because of Gaza you don’t have to know much history at all to arrive at the truth about Israel. Reality is truth. The reality of genocide gives rise to irrefutable truths. Because of Gazans, the living and the martyred, the truth about Israel is now ahistoric.

Shortly after October 7, with the commencement, in Gaza, of Israel’s “Operation Swords of Iron,” certain self-evident truths became crystal clear.

By late October, Israel’s actions within and without Gaza had shown the world the absolute depravity of Israel, state and civil society. One such emerged reality is that, Palestinians, not Israeli Jews, as Hasbara teaches, are the most imperiled people in the world; Israelis the most perilous.

Another is that Israel, with overwhelming support from the Jewish-Israeli public, has gleefully engaged in methodical, indiscriminate, industrial-scale murder and ethnic cleansing ongoing.

The Israel Defense Forces, IDF, were allowed to obliterate all the fundamentals of physical, national and economic life in Gaza, turning it into an uninhabitable “post-apocalyptic wasteland.” The Strip has been reduced to its sub-soil particulate elements, only badly soiled.

Gaza is now a mass grave along a small stretch of the Mediterranean Sea, where living ghosts wander.

Gaza’s soil is soaked through with a mix of millions of tons of building debris, the decaying bodies of tens-of-thousands of human beings, their pets, livestock; fauna, flora all gone—an inferno of garbage, open sewage, and the byproducts and contaminants of munitions, like unexploded ordnance.

Said a scholar of the architecture of Occupation: Israel has “stolen” from Gaza’s Palestinians “the very ability to produce food.” Or, receive it. Or use means of exchange to get it. Banking was dismantled.

Believe it or not, but under years of a medieval blockade, Gaza’s farmers had, before October 7, fed a third of their people.

Indeed, Israel has systemized the mass murder and displacement of innocent Palestinian civilians, targeting them and their habitat for Total Warfare.

Since war against civilians is a war on civilization; Israel, by extension, is an enemy of civilization.

Our ally Israel is a country in which genocide, snuff films, extra-judicial assassinations, rape, robbery, torture and starvation of Palestinians are de facto legal. Israel is thus a criminal entity, and a threat to the comity of nations.

The indictment against Israel ought to be hermetically sealed. Israel’s ethnocide and domicide in Gaza is in violation of most systems of ethics known to man over intellectual history—it is in violation of God’s law, the Ten Commandments. These command not to covet, steal or murder. It is in violation of libertarian law (the axiom of non-aggression). It is in violation of natural justice, the laws of war (although genocide is not war), as well as humanitarian law.

And it is in violation of the systems of law within which the above is subsumed: The natural law and the positive law.

Right and wrong are universal, not relative. The Sixth Commandment is neither opinion nor optional. “Thou shalt not murder” or mass murder is called a commandment for a reason. There is no tribal privilege clause attached to it. Like gentiles, Jews are enjoined against wanton murder.

Yet Israelis now flout the Sixth Commandment with ugly audacity.

Over the months, I have closely observed Israel as it pulverizes population centers across the Levant. I’ve listened in the Hebrew, to Jewish-Israeli public and political discourse.

In Hebrew, Jewish-Israeli public personalities, and the public, express an impatient, snarling contempt for accusations of genocide, offering an unbroken stream of genocide-justification Hasbara.

It’s like Israeli-Jews are yawning, waiting on the world to wake up to the fact that their lives do matter more. And that any aberrant action taken to make them feel safe must be allowed.

And it is allowed. Israel has played its genocide of the Palestinians of Gaza to a packed house: to the world.

Israeli-Jews don’t lack for facts; but most appear to be without the analytical and ethical faculties to examine their actions. They lead the unexamined lives of self-anointed superior beings.

Societally, majorities appear to project the sense that their sectarian supremacy transcends the universal moral order, to which international law, the natural law and the Decalogue give expression.

The natural law is a system of ethics knowable through reason, revelation and experience, whichever floats your boat. Because it’s anchored in the very existential nature of man and reality, the Natural Law is the highest law known to man and is therefore deductively true and just.

An example is the libertarian non-aggression axion.

For reasons obvious, there should be no difference between how classical liberals or anarchists understand the non-aggression axion, which is the organizing principle of libertarianism. Minarchist, anarchist or statist; genocide is forbidden.

The positive law, on the other hand, is a creation of the State. Legal positivism equates justice with the law of The State.

In teasing out right from wrong, we discriminate between acts that are criminal because The State has criminalized them, as opposed to acts which are universally criminal.

Most civilizing systems of ethics stipulate that no one has the right to kill a single innocent human being, let alone hundreds-of-thousands of members of a group.

There again, Israel’s sacking of Gaza is universally evil.

Lest I be accused of arguing in circles around the definition of genocide, I’ll briefly mention genocide in the context of the international vs. the natural law.

Israel has aced the genocide bar, namely the prohibitions, in Article II of the Genocide Convention, on destroying a group, in whole or in part, and or on making life unbearable for that group.

Mens rea, intent in Western jurisprudence and judicial philosophy, is a component of genocide:

If Palestinians were accorded equality before law—any law, national or international—then by 2023’s end, logically, and perhaps legally, Israelis would have been seen as having both spoken their guilty minds and acted out their genocidal intent on the ground.

Mass murder is never “unintentional” when you know it is inevitable and incidental to your “mission.” If you know in advance that your actions will cause the deaths of thousands-upon-thousands of innocents; attached to your criminal actions (actus reus) is a guilty mind (mens rea).

America shares in Israel’s genocidal guilty mind. The US regime has been a worshipful partner in Israel’s vice. It has supplied munitions for mass-murder. It has provided diplomatic cover. It has issued at least seven vetoes and abstention in the UN Security Council to enable Israel’s continued atrocities. For wanting to expel, arrest, protest or boycott Israelis, America has menaced countries, legal organs and American residents.

America has helped Israeli Hasbara in asserting self-defense to justify collective punishment.

And America has helped Israel to frame state terrorism as self-defense, normalizing the structural violence that is the State of Israel.

The genocide of Gazans was happily and willingly underwritten by the US government, the American political class, and its Julius Streicher media, which, even mid-murder, describe Israelis as victims.

On the matter of industrial-scale mass murder: international law is not at odds with the natural law or the libertarian law.

Such is the case of Article II of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. It articulates, mostly, a set of negative rights. Their enforcement imposes no burden on anybody but the sadistic, sociopathic serial killers under discussion.

Most libertarians would concede that The State now acts extra-judicially, and that any remnants of the natural law once embedded in the US Constitution have long-since been buried beneath the rubble of legislation and statute.

Let us say, then, that to the extent that law—local, international, tribal—upholds no more than natural rights, law is OK. To the extent that law violates the rights to life, liberty, and property—law is bad. To the extent state law agrees with the natural law—to that extent it is inoffensive.

By extension, it matters not who upholds the rights of Palestinians to life and land, just so long as someone does.

It matters not which state, which federal official or international organization, or which platoon, Hizballah or the Houthis—just so long as someone does.

In America, federalism means “divided sovereignty,” which, if we are to take James Madison seriously, should make it difficult for states to begin executing their residents.

Why would it be a matter of respect for a country’s “sovereignty” to allow Israel to systematically execute occupied, subjugated populations, on the off-chance that they eliminate some terrorists, whom by now many consider resistance fighters?

Make no mistake; In human rights law there is a responsibility to protect a community that is being evicted and eradicated. There’s a right to resist, too, under the “Hague Regulations on Belligerent Occupation.” Neither offends the natural law.

Resistance fighters argue that they are heeding this calling, The “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P).

Israel ought to have been forcibly stopped; its innocent victims protected. You don’t placate a John Wayne Gacy and a Jeffrey Dahmer…You stop them.

But not as the Axis of Genocide sees it.

The Arab societies are non-woke societies. The fact that Gaza, the West Bank, Syria and Yemen were and are largely traditional societies, not co-opted, Woke societies, has certainly helped the West justify their mistreatment.

You see, the Woke Masters of the Western Universe consider non-woke societies as without the natural right of resistance. Their resistance we call terrorism.

Given that nobody has effectively upheld the legal “Responsibility to Protect” Palestinians, all but the spirit of Gaza is gone.

Consider the Great Palestinian Return to Northern Gaza in January of 2025. Despite the erasure of over 2000 Gazan bloodlines, family trees, gone—an epic event took place:

Processions of Palestinians in their thousands returned to their ruined homes in Northern Gaza.

You see, the land is central to Palestinian identity.

What greater proof is there of the ancestral homesteader claims that Palestinians have to Palestine than this devotion, this resilience?

Contrast this Palestinian rootedness and resilience with Israel’s squirrely northern and southern settler populations.

Israeli Jews have not returned to towns in Israel’s north or south. Rather, their love of the land is predicated on its ethnic cleansing.

Only if their army obliterates even the slightest danger posed by their indigenous neighbors will Israel’s settlers return.

For yet more of a contrast, look, too, at the repulsive levels of Israeli environmental destruction in Gaza: This speaks, among many other things, to Israel’s profound alienation from an ecosystem it shares and claims to care about.

Israeli-Jews have greed for the land, not a love of it.

Back to our nemesis, The State.

What about the moral authority of a Democratic state? Surely “our ally Israel shares our democratic values”? Or, so we are lectured.

Well, murder with majority approval is still murder, whomever the perpetrator. Whether it is committed by the decree of the one dictator or by the will of the many; by actors within or without The State; by the designated ‘good guys’ or by the ‘bad guys’—murder of innocents is always murder.

You would be correct to conclude, however, that this 21st Century Holocaust is popular. Thumping majorities across Israel’s public and private sectors have, throughout, justified, finessed and fibbed about their army’s AI-driven high-tech depopulation and extermination orgy in Gaza.

Eager to write the Palestinian obituary, as late in the genocide as February 2025, 80 percent of Jewish-Israelis signaled their support for Trump’s plan for Gaza. Only three percent of this cohort thought it immoral.

Trump’s plan is an extension and completion of Joe Biden’s genocide, which included the internal displacement—depopulation—and large-scale extermination of the Strip and its People.

First, Donald Trump has proposed to cover up Israel’s crime of genocide by removing the pitiful exhibits from the scene of the crime. Next, he planned to conclude Joe’s genocide by scattering the survivors across the Middle East. Israel will have been rescued. Gazans will have ceased to exist as a nation. The liquidation-and-extermination campaign in the Gaza ghetto would have been completed.

Debating and committing genocidal violence, forcibly displacing millions, starving a subjugated people: All this Trump backers called “out-of-the-box thinking.”

Who said crime doesn’t pay? When the Superpower inverts the moral order of the universe; the Crime of All Crimes pays—and then some.

In any case, genocide had won a plebiscite in Israel.

No surprise. Remember, the IDF is Israel. It’s a citizen army in which every Israeli must serve. It’s the voice of the Jewish-Israeli commonwealth. Israel’s sons and daughters are the stars in the country’s genocide constellation.

We’ve watched them level Gaza—vaporize young men picking their way through rubble as though in a video game. Mock their victims. Snipe their kids. Rape their men. Rob their businesses. Rummage through the intimate effects of people dead or dispossessed. Invade and explode entire residential buildings.

True, all Israeli Jews are conscripted and must enlist in this army. However, the military draft does not compel a conscript to commit, chronicle, and crow over what is institutionalized and legalized, serial-killer type crime.

The pride and joy seen recorded and then transmitted to the world from thousands of IDF mobile phones over months has been voluntary, spontaneous, and organic to Israeli society’s tenor and project.

So let us hear no Nuremberg defense.

“I was only following orders” must not be tolerated in mitigation of the IDF. The evidence is conclusive. IDF shoot, loot and bomb for fun.

No doubt, the Israeli State is genocidal. But, by the numbers and by their statements Israeli society is as sociopathic. From janitor to general; from soldiers to supreme court justices.

As uncomfortable as this is for the libertarian individualist; the facts are clear. On the matter of the genocide of the Palestinians of Gaza; Jewish-Israeli society does not stand apart from the Jewish State.

Throughout, polled opinion in Israel was not split between Israeli Jews for mass murder vs. Israelis against mass murder and ethnic cleansing.

No. The division in Israeli society was between Jewish-Israelis for current levels of violence against Gazans, versus those for greater or lesser industry in what were already industrial-levels and methods of murder.

By the polls, nothing outside their self-righteous and self-obsessed selves mattered to a preponderance of Jewish-Israelis.

Israeli-Jews, by and large, have become a sorority of Jewish supremacists. And Palestinians have paid a terrible price for Israel’s systemic, societal sociopathy.

Ask Israelis about Palestinian babies shredded to bits; and they’ll dish Hasbara. It’s all in self-defense. And, it’s all the doing of a third party.

Guess who made them do the genocide?

Hamas.

“It’s not me,” says the criminal. “Hamas ate my homework; I mean my conscience.” This is Israel’s Third-Party theory of culpability. Israel vomits it up. The west laps it up.

The “Hamas Made Me Mass Murder” non-sequitur exposes Israel’s Hasbara for its irrationality. Since when do you blame a third party for your ongoing crimes in real-time?

Put it this way, the state in which you live has no right to evict you from your home and bomb your neighborhoods because its agents believe outlaws hide in your neighborhood.

The “crime of passion” defense is bad enough. The Third-Party theory of culpability must never bolster it.

The “crime of passion” defense we associate with a single event. Not with sadistic serial killers, loosed for months-on-end on millions of innocents across the Via Delarosa that is Gaza.

Yes, Israel has an historic passion, alright, but for methodical mass murder.

See, the IDF is not a fighting force; it’s an Air Force. Judged from its actions over time, this Air Force’s objectives are not to defeat a regular army. But to pound population centers into submission—in Gaza, across the Levant, and beyond.

What other country has not only had its killer practices codified in law but also named?

The “Dahiyeh Doctrine” is named after the southern suburbs of Beirut, upon whose Shia civilians the Israeli Air Force has perfected its predation.

“Mowing the lawn” is a term used across Israel to signal murder sprees against Palestinian civilians to keep populations subdued.

Fans of true crime TV will remember the Highway I-5 serial killer. Imagine his killer craft being dubbed the “I-5 Doctrine,” and Wikipedia describing this infamous serial killer as originator of the “I-5 Doctrine.”

Without a doubt, public protest, too, in Israel has followed a strictly me-me, solipsistic self-interest.  There was little transcendent humanity whatsoever in Israeli hostage protests.

By the numbers and by their own words, most Israeli-Jews were simply demanding a return of their hostages. Said one Israeli pundit: Israelis want their hostages back; they don’t want Gaza back.

If the Israeli State is a criminal entity, what, then, can be said about the U.S.?

Israel’s war on Gaza, the West Bank and the greater Levant is America’s war.

Like it or not, Gaza is our genocide.

We hear disinterested mumblings about the national interest: Gaza is of no national interest to the United States of America.

I’m afraid it’s too late to for the national-interest dodge. The US is an interventionist hegemon. It has aided, abetted and partaken in, via reconnaissance, an extermination campaign in Gaza.

Besides often being immoral, the national-interest argument is a form of statism. The premise of national-interest political pragmatism leads to this perverse logic:

If enabling the slaughter of Gazans and Iraqis happened to be in the American national interest; then those “endeavors” would have been justified, in accordance with national-interest standards.

In other words, if the U.S. government considered genocide in the national interests; then genocide it is! America should act on its divine rights as Global judge, jury and executioner.

No. Genocide is not a foreign-policy matter; it is a moral matter.

And the United States’ energetic support for the Gaza Holocaust is a defining event in the annals of American foreign-policy aberrations. And, in the national life.

While American foreign policy is a museum of horrors, Gaza is now the main exhibit. Why is Gaza qualitatively different from foreign policy deformities that went before?

Here’s why:

So far, America’s foreign policy has been largely focused on a regime-change program, where “collateral damage” is largely concealed but framed as incidental to a political program.

Again and again, the American Masters of the Universe have gone to war to make the World Woke. Namely, make it over in America’s image. As well as make the world safe for Israel.

Mass murder, within the American foreign-policy framework, has generally been secondary to a program of “Warring to make the World Woke.” Crudely put, “Be like us or we’ll kill you.”

In Gaza, however, America has participated in mass murder for the sake of murder.

In Gaza, Uncle Sam has finally achieved an official or formal inversion of all universal values.

What the US has approved and assisted in Gaza is a primetime twenty-first century Holocaust.

In a sense, Israel has effected a radical ethical inversion in America. Sects of Christianity can no longer distinguish Satan from God, mutually exclusive categories. They favor AIPAC’s edicts over the commandments of the Prince of Peace.

But you are what you do.

The Israeli State is genocidal by virtue of its actions and the declared intent accompanying these actions—not because it has been denounced as “genocidal” by so-called “antisemites” and “terrorist sympathizers.”

Said Jesus, “Therefore, by their fruits you will know them,” (Matthew 7:20 reads).

Another of Hasbara’s aims is to frame the IDF’s ongoing extermination campaign against a population of cornered civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as byproducts of war. As incidental to a just war prosecuted by brave fighters.

If it’s portrayed as a war crime; genocide can be dismissed as no more than a case of, “Oops, Bad things happen in the butcher’s shop of war.”

In Gaza, however, Israel has waged genocide, not war. Dressing up a canned hunt as a war is pure Hasbara. For genocide is not war. (09/20/2024)

The genocide-as-a-war-crime conceptualization provides cover and lends authority to criminals and criminality. You mitigate and minimize genocide when you call it a war crime.

You see, genocide is not a war crime to which a set of mitigating or explanatory legal defenses can attach. Genocide is the stand-alone, indefensible crime-of-all-crimes, for which there are no legal or moral defenses. There are no extenuating circumstances, historical, legal or other, for genocide.

True, Israel’s genocide has been disrupted by asymmetric warfare from non-state, Palestinian Resistance fighters. But there is an enormous power differential between occupier and occupied. That the serial killers encounter organized, regional resistance does not make genocide a war.

So far, I’ve anatomized what Israel, state and society, has done to the Gaza Strip and its people since October 7.

But what have Gazans, the living and the martyred, accomplished? A great deal.

Outwardly captives, Palestinians are truly liberated from the illiberal political propaganda that grips the West.

They have made us see Israel as an irreparably corrupt force, morally and militarily.

The Genocide of Gaza has, very plainly, invalidated Israel and validated the Palestinian cause.

A moral, sentient human being need know nothing much about the history of the region to arrive at this conclusion.

Here’s why:

You’ve seen Israel for the contradiction it is. Israel, astonishingly, has engaged in the mother of all performative contradictions: denying genocide, while publicly committing genocide, effectively asserting a birthright to do genocide.

Israel demands to exist as a privileged, protected aberration, carrying out diabolical deeds with universal blessings and absolution.

Think about it:

Caught in the protracted, planful act of committing genocide, the guilty party, Israel, persists in claiming for itself the right to kill and deceive without being considered and treated as a killer and a con-artist.

The Chutzpah חוצפה!

To no avail. Human action is the undeniable key to man-made reality. Israel and the US have acted; they’ve been exposed.

Ethnocide, depopulation, and domicide are never justified and can never be exculpated. To assert that you are just and justified as you carry out that which cannot be just or justified—this is to embody a most grotesque contradiction, and to be less than human, less than coherent.

At minimum, Israel deserves the revulsion and isolation reserved for entities whose existence is a confidence trick and a fraud upon us all.

The same ahistoric Hoppean argumentation applied to invalidate Israel will serve here to validate the Palestinians’ reality, as they have been telling it over decades.

Israel’s televised genocide has corroborated the reality of the Palestinians; their reasons for rage and their rights to resistance and recompense.

Palestinians have been telling us for decades that they have been set upon by murderers and thieves. Palestinians have told us they are being killed and robbed as a matter of course. Their reality has been irrefutably affirmed since October 7.

Now, if supporters of Israel’s genocide in Gaza deny this; they, too, would be fraudsters, living a lie.

The liar’s life of lies we expose by compelling the denier of the Palestinian Holocaust to live his own lie:

Deniers of the Palestinian reality—Ben Shapiro, Bari Weiss, Biden, Bibi, Blinken, Douglas Murray, Dennis Prager —would be parachuted into occupied Gaza. Genocide would become their “lived reality,” not their rhetorical reality.

Running here and there as tanks advance on the Denier, ducking-and-diving bombardments from above, as if you can escape the death radius of American-made 2000- or 500-pound bombs.

These Holocaust Deniers would be recorded scratching for scraps, carrying jerricans of contaminated drinking water back to nylon dwellings. Climbing over kilometers of decaying structures, through ruins and twisted metal.

Our camera will find these holocaust deniers queuing with thousands to use a single functioning toilet, plumbing having been destroyed by the Israelis.

The denier of the Palestinian Holocaust would be filmed up-close suffering dysentery, sepsis, and starvation; intubated, amputated or C-sectioned without narcotics. Twisting on a hospital floor. Smeared by blood and waste. Listening to the incessant whirring above of Israel’s quadcopter killer drones.

The Holocaust denier will therefore LIVE this absolute truth, the ontological truth, of Israel’s Final Solution to its Palestinian Problem. The nature of Palestinian reality is as they’ve been telling it. QED. Proposition proven.

Books have now been written, more about Israeli and Jewish anguish than about the victims. Being Jewish after Gaza is one. Israel’s theocracy. Israel’s moral and military degeneration. Israel’s looming collapse. When did it begin. Right wing, left wing. Why, why, why. Everyone is beating on breast about Israel.

An apt response are the words of a character from Southern literature: “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn!”

And neither should you worry about the perpetrators of genocide—

Only to the extent that punishment is exacted upon Israel for what it has done to Palestinians. That reparations and restitution are extracted from Israel in perpetuity for Palestinians.

‘A ceasefire is when the Israelis fire and we cease.’ ~ Refaat Al-Areer, RIP

The median elapsed time between an American official opposing anything Israel and then dropping out of history is getting shorter. ~ilana

Nobody can quite determine any longer which of the two countries, America or Israel, is the Great Satan and which is the Little Satan. ~ilana

“We’re the United States. We’re not an agent of Israel. We have specific interests at play.” So said Trump Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs Adam Boehler to Zionist enforcer Jake Tapper, on CNN.

Boehler had been deputized by President Donald Trump to bypass Bibi Netanyahu and negotiate directly with Hamas. More to the point, Boehler had described Hamas, whom by now very many around the world consider resistance fighters, as holding points of view that merit a hearing. He even suggested, as Jewish Insider reported, that—lo—! “they’re actually pretty nice guys.” Hamas, that is.

Whatever was he thinking! Boehler was off his leash. Israeli officials were scurrying about in an attempt to get him back on it.

Talking to Hamas? Now Trump was talking!

Unlike the president’s Gaza Rivera plan to evict Palestinian survivors from Gaza; negotiations with Hamas do indeed constitute “out-of-the-box thinking,” if not original thinking. Unoriginal, because diplomacy, namely talking to adversaries, is standard statecraft. At least it ought to be.

Excerpted but barely in the Washington Examiner, the testy Boehler-Tapper televised exchange took time to propagate to the Internet. You see, US Deep Tech, Google included, generally cover for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), which is also business partner to American tech. These multinationals are not about to throw sand in the IDF’s military bearings.

Tech multinationals (or Deep Tech, as I call them) have, after all, supplied the IDF with the killer infrastructure required to “build artificial intelligence (AI) programs designed to produce human targets with little human oversight.” (The other reasonable conclusion is that these multinationals are undisturbed by genocide.)

Talking to Hamas would certainly have been inconceivable under Joe Biden, alias Genocide Joe, remarks commentator extraordinaire Mouin Rabbani, a Palestinian. And while Trump has prioritized negotiations over American dual-national captives; his bold move broadcasts some salient facts about the situation:

Israel is an obstacle to an accord; to closing out the genocide. It is especially eager to avoid phase II of the January 17, 2025 ceasefire agreement. Not that the media system had noticed, but Israel never quite quit the killing.

By March 13, Israel had violated the ceasefire agreement upwards of one thousand times, in the estimation of Jon Elmer, military analyst at the Electronic Intifada. Staggering, perhaps, but utterly predictable historically. “Israel,” reminds a dejected Chris Hedges—he is a famed war correspondent—“has assassinated more people than any other people in the Western World.”

In the hours right after the ceasefire deal was announced; Israeli forces killed at least 87 Palestinians, 23 of them children. Quipped the late Refaat Al-Areer: “A ceasefire is when the Israelis fire and we cease.” As in “expire.” A mild-mannered, bookish Palestinian scholar, Dr. Al-Areer was murdered in his Gaza residence, in December of 2023.

Indeed, the low-grade killing across the coastal strip had continued throughout phase I of the “ceasefire.” To be exact, Israel had started up the killing fifteen minutes into the ceasefire’s implementation. Since January 15, 2025, Israel has murdered an average of three people every 24 hours—150 Palestinians since the start of the ceasefire on 19 January 2025.

No sooner were the Israelis steered by Steven Witkoff, in January, to a ceasefire; than the urge to kill overcame them. Israeli newspapers were telling about the “salty” language Witkoff, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, had deployed with Netanyahu, instructing the Israeli prime minister’s aides, as follows (and I paraphrase), “I don’t care that today’s your Sabbath. Get down here and sign this [old] ceasefire on the dotted line.” I ad-libbed “old” in, because the January-15 accord was modeled after one Hamas had composed in May of 2024.

Did Witkoff remind Netanyahu that the Israeli army, the IDF, does not rest up on the Seventh Day from the slaughter of innocents, and that, surely its commander-in-chief could get off his duff to make peace on the holy Sabbath?! Probably not. Still, what transpired was refreshing, even delicious.

The March 2025 violations of the agreement have seen Israel halt the meager aid let into starving Gaza, and cut off the remaining supply of electricity to Gaza. Because the main desalination water-treatment plant is producing a fraction of its prior output, running as it is only on generators—only one-in-ten Gazans currently has access to safe drinking water.

From the start, Israel had failed to allow into Gaza the agreed-upon medicines, fuel, food, housing units (15 out of a promised 60,000), tents (20 percent of the requisite 200,000), heavy earth-moving machinery, spare parts, construction material, and alternative energy systems, like generators.

Still regionally omnipotent, still resistless—Israel has now put its exterminatory foot to the floor again. The Jewish State continues to bleed the region like a leech, seizing Lebanese and Syrian territory, including the Golan Heights. As I write, via the chyron scroll across the screen comes news that Israel has just extinguished nine lives in northern Gaza, and two in southern Lebanon, where a ceasefire is in effect.

Unless it is killing things, Israel is just not happy. Flora and fauna, too. Israeli genociders, candid economists might say, have a high time-preference mindset. In such an uncivilized society, impulses (to kill) are privileged over contractual commitments (to quit killing). Not some of the livestock, but all of the livestock. As hard as it is to believe, but under decades of a medieval blockade, Gaza’s farmers had, before October 7, fed a third of their people. Croplands, irrigation systems, batteries of greenhouses, living things that produce flowers then give fruit: everything has gone the way of cattle, poultry and family pets: dead.

The term Carthaginian Peace has lost its meaning under Israel’s malign sway. The bad idea of “peace” through crippling the opponent Israel has replaced with the idea of “peace” through conquering and killing the opponent off. Conversion is complete. The structural violence that is the State of Israel the US duopoly has helped normalize. Genocidal violence, yes or no, saturation bombing of civilians, pros and cons, and forced mass expulsion of starving, subjugated people—if not de rigueur, these state crimes are now part of normal governance in the West.

On top of all that, there was never a ceasefire in the West Bank. The West Bank’s civilians, so closely clustered, have been strafed from the air. For the first time in 20 years, tanks travel all over what are urban neighborhoods.

The depopulation underway in this de facto annexed territory hardly even percolates through to the West’s press. Yet thousands of West Bank Palestinians are being plucked from their homes, some detained, mostly without charges, at times shot on the spot; always degraded, tortured, and sicced upon by fulminating Jewish settlers, who “work” cheek-by-jowl with Israeli soldiers.

A screen picture of any day in the life of a subject in the State of Satan seconds my description. Taken on February 15, the captured headlines via Ha’aretz tell of 30,000 Palestinians driven from Jenin, a so-called refugee camp in the West Bank. The number of people evicted and dispossessed from these “camps” has since ballooned to close on 50,000.  The West Bank’s Palestinians are denied access to their agricultural land, which means that soon it will lie fallow, and settlers will colonize it.

I call places like Jenin “so-called” camps because these were proper cities, not tent cities. As was noted in the Journal of Middle-East Studies (1992), these “camps are similar to any other urban neighborhoods,” into which they have evolved.

I’d been to Jenin. Our family had been invited as guests by generous residents. Childhood in Israel saw me visiting what I then knew as The Triangle: Tira, Tulkarem and Jenin. In the 1970s, these were not yet cities, but were definitely no nylon-dome encampments. My step-father, a doctor, headed healthcare clinics in what he called The Triangle. Daily, he’d return home laden with export-quality fresh produce. His patients were poor, yet so very generous. Upon the town’s doctor, a South African Jew who was appreciated in his role as a healthcare provider, they showered respect, affection and gifts.

We’d also be invited as a family to feasts held on the occasion of a wedding. The tables groaned with heavenly cuisine. Bestowed, this was a great honor, and these were grand affairs, an example of a culture in which hospitality and generosity are defining values. An invitation meant that you were never ignored. A lovely, if genteel, welcome awaited.

I do not know if the term Triangle deployed then denotes the same cluster of cities and villages. I do know that Jenin today is 70-percent levelled. Burdened by history like never before, I note, too, that Tira is no longer visible on the map.

Although the occupation army has pulled out of the Netzarim Corridor, which divides Gaza, it retains a presence in southern Rafah and the Philadelphi Corridor. The serial-killer state had hoped, with Trump’s backing, to renege entirely on the ceasefire agreement, and, in particular, on its Phase-II obligations to permanently end the offensive and “withdraw armed forces from the Gaza Strip completely.” In order to “surmount the obstacle” that is Israel, the Trump Administration had, therefore, chosen to speak directly with Hamas leaders.

Early in January of 2025, there was hope. Trump is an Alpha Male; Bibi Netanyahu is a kept man. How long can the ego-bound leader of a Super Power tolerate being bossed about by the leader of a “sh-thole country,” to use Trump’s old coinage?

Two months distant, and hope is fading. Trump chose to channel son-in-law Jared Kushner. Kushner, the nepotistic scion of a dodgy New York realtor, and an empty husk of a man, has had his eye on the waterfront property of a conquered and dying people. He had said as much about Gaza in 2024.

In essence, some of the world’s wealthiest men were coveting the property of the world’s poorest and most persecuted people.

Soon to follow was Trump’s Gaza plan, a gaudy vulgar production, replete with bearded belly dancers. “Trump Gaza,” the plan’s title, was not “out-of-the-box thinking,” as some in the president’s Western coalition had dubbed it. Rather, it sits on a continuum of evil. It is an extension and completion of Joe Biden’s genocide.

Eager, it would seem, to write the Palestinian People’s obituary, Trump had vowed to assume control over Gaza, rebuild it and evict the survivors of a genocide committed by client state Israel.

By removing the pitiful exhibits from the scene of the crime; Donald Trump would be covering-up the crime of genocide. Next, he planned to conclude Biden’s genocide by scattering the survivors across the Middle East. Israel will have been rescued. Gazans will have ceased to exist as a nation. The forced displacement and mass murder of Gaza’s Palestinians would have been achieved, completed.

Who said crime doesn’t pay? When the Superpower inverts the moral order of the universe; the Crime of All Crimes pays—and then some.

As Trump told it, nobody quite knows how or why Gaza became a “demolition site.” Somehow, the soil got soaked through with the blood of tens-of-thousands of Palestinians, and a toxic mix of 50-million tons of building debris. Somehow, piles of bodies decay beneath the surface. Somehow, garbage is piled as high as the bodies, were they to be stacked. Open sewage runs through what remains of the streets, and the byproducts and contaminants of munitions, like unexploded ordnance, lie everywhere.

It’s all a big mystery.

The other thing nobody can quite determine is which of the two countries, America or Israel, is the Great Satan and which is the Little Satan.

Back to Boehler: Israel went barking mad when our ex-envoy failed to show monk-like devotion to Israel, asserting, instead, American foreign-policy independence. The Lobby was marshalled. Fervid assurances were soon provided. Soon enough, Adam Boehler was gone. After being “nominated for the Senate-confirmed position of Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs,” he was demoted to “special government employee,” reports Ha’aretz. Found deficient in Zionist solidarity, Boehler “withdrew his nomination.”

The median elapsed time between an American official opposing anything Israel and then dropping out of history is getting shorter.

Like Joe Biden did before him, president Trump followed the Israeli prime minister on a leash. On March 5, he bellowed on Truth Social:

“Release all of the Hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you.” Buoyed, at 2:00 AM today, March 18, Israel murdered over 400 Gazans. It is currently demanding that Hamas hand over hostages for nothing.

Will the Palestinians wronged and ruined get a reprieve? Will the mercurial Trump, who, to his credit, is ideologically unattached to Israel, cut Israel dead, as he ought to? These possibilities are looking remote.

You don’t negotiate with Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer… You stop them. ~ilana

… Israeli society … is a picture of moral decadence. Israeli sofa tv pundits are as chatty and blasé about ‘mowing the lawn’ as they are about the sexual rupturing of Palestinian anatomy. Israelis themselves have partied on. It’s vodka in the bars, volleyball on the beaches. All the while, a few kilometers south of this Dionysian debauchery is genocide. ~ilana

Honed in rendition torture camps, sexual violence has become the coin of the Greater Israel realm ~ilana

As fast as a snake’s thrust, Israel has taken the methods of mass murder used against Gaza’s civilians to the West Bank, to Lebanon and Syria, to Yemen and beyond. It is now launching about for the next country to attack, Iran.

This is the bloodiest in Israeli criminal annals. Still, it is the consensus among the best of people, pure-hearted and valiant all, that the only way to stop the Israeli State’s serial killers is passively and pacifistically—“for the U.S. to end all weapons shipments to Israel.” And, that “the only way that this will take place is if enough Americans make clear they have no intention of supporting any presidential ticket or any political party that fuels this genocide.”

So spoke Chris Lynn Hedges, veteran war correspondent and journalist. Another man of first quality is Professor Jeffrey Sachs. To put an end to Israel’s hourly slaying in Palestine and across the Levant, Professor Sachs, for one, recommends “stopping Israel’s ideology of genocide.”

By this he might mean a reeducation or denazification program of sorts. It is unclear, however, how “stopping” Israel’s “ideology of genocide” will end Israel’s actual, multi-fronted, high-tech, industrial-scale murder campaigns against Palestinians and their defending neighbors.

September-October Carnage

Life in the Israel-occupied Levant

At an astonishing clip, the Israeli criminal enterprise sped off to Lebanon. Israel’s lobbies and Western enablers have now extended tacit permission for Israel’s bombing campaign in Lebanon—visiting death and displacement on the villages of Southern Lebanon, and on the southern suburbs of Beirut, where, entire city blocks have been demolished with ground-penetrating, bunker-busting American bombs.

Within the span of two-three weeks, in 10,000 strikes, 93 percent of which originated with Israel, some 2500 individuals had been murdered in Lebanon. A quarter of the population has been displaced, under eviction notice from their Israeli overlords. Israel’s bombing of civilians has extended from the Beqaa Valley, and the city of Baalbek, into Beirut, beyond the Dahiyeh, to the ancient Phoenician cities of Tripoli and Tyre, in northern Lebanon. Did I mention a strike on Lebanon’s only airport? Forgive: No sooner do the news chyrons of death and destruction by Demon State scroll across my screens than these are out of date.

Before the strafing of Lebanon now in progress—Israel had infiltrated that sovereign country’s supply chain of electronic devices to carry out one of “the biggest acts of mass terrorism” to date. Thousands were maimed by detonating pagers, dozens were murdered. Need I add that boobytraps contravene the laws of armed conflict? I don’t. You already knew that Israel relies for its existence on criminality.

As free marketeers, we harbor hope that Israel’s repulsive tampering with humanity’s personal devices will spur local Lebanese industries. The free market will, in future, ensure that Israel’s remote activation of sleeper devices will lend an edge to the kind of competition that advertises thus to consumers of electronic goods:

“Our products are Israel proof; they cannot kill their users.”

Long-term hopes and predictions are no panacea for unhindered carnage in progress. Israel is bleeding the region like a leech. Its high-tech murder sprees across the Middle East must be viewed, then, as actionable, S.O.S., life-and-death emergencies.

At the time of this writing hundreds are dying daily by Demon State. In Gaza’s dilapidated, destroyed hospital structures, in its schools-turned-shelters (28 desiccated on October 10), in its refugee camps, where the displaced huddle (dozens dead in Deir el-Balah); on the central-city streets of Beirut, where 22 martyrs had been offered up for the October 12 Sabbath; in mosques (19 souls taken on October 6), in municipalities, markets, en route to fetch food and water.

In dank nylon tents set ablaze, Al-Aqsa hospital patients incinerated in their beds.

A funereal rap way better than mine is the raw throb of BBOBBYY, the mysterious activist-artist who has superimposed his lachrymose lyrics on images of the crushed, dismembered and burned alive, rapped out in lamentation of “1 Year of Genocide”:

“A bomb descends and detonates, disembowels eviscerates, torsos torn, shredded bodies, no heads, girls with no legs on their deathbeds, heads without skulls, hollowed out holes, where there once were souls, dreams and goals, a father’s last cuddle in a blood-soaked puddle, a ghostly gray child hangs plucked from the rubble.”

No one is spared: children, women, their men; reporters, rescuers, healthcare workers. And peacekeepers in Lebanon. Peacekeepers, according to Professor Sachs, are one of the bedrocks on which to erect the future superstructure of peace between Israelis and Palestinians. The Blue Helmets, however, are present in Lebanon. Israel has begun picking off the United Nations’ peacekeepers, for it respects no international symbol.

In its unceasing carnage, Israel has now knocked out at least four major hospitals and 32 medical centers in Beirut, in what the Hasbara bills as “precision strikes,” in the course of “a limited incursion.”

For their part, Palestinians keep trying to nest, to return to the Sisyphean piles of rubble that are their ruined homes. But Israel will have none of that. It wants to empty Gaza north of the Wadi Gaza and is currently revisiting Northern Gaza, subjecting its dazed and confused survivors “to one of the most violent campaigns of its genocide.” So warns Euro-med Monitor. In Northern Gaza the IDF is now killing whoever remains by “saturation bombing” or by eviction—as in the renewed seize on the skeletal Kamal Adwan Hospital. As of October 23, Israel had killed over 770 people, reports DropSiteNews, “since it laid siege to the area 17 days ago, 33 of them since dawn on Monday, medical sources have told Al Jazeera.” (Oct 21, Al Jazeera)

Sneers “the most moral army in the world”: The innocents murdered are mostly legitimate targets on account that third parties—Hamas, Hizballah, and Houthi fighters—are either lurking or lobbing projectiles nearby. Trust us, the Israelis smugly snarl: If a smorgasbord of humanity is killed by us—men, women, their children, their ancestors, their livestock, their land, their defenders, their storytellers—it is because the dead were either terrorists who needed killing, or were in the vicinity of terrorists who needed killing. The kills were good; the killers righteous. Besides, the killers’ lives are worth more.

An hour in the life of Israel-occupied Levant (links via Antiwar.com) looks like this:

North Gaza Attack Signals Restart of Ethnic Cleansing.
Israeli Attacks in Gaza Kill 82 Palestinians Over Three Days.
Journalist [aged 19] Killed in Israeli Bombing After Being Warned to End his Gaza Reportage.
Israel Kills 100 Children in Lebanon in 11 Days.
Israeli Strikes Target Aid Trucks in Syria.
Israeli Strike on West Bank Cafe Wipes Out Family.

Unflagging zeal for generational genocide in Gaza has meant that, so far, Israel has wiped out 900 bloodlines in the enclave. The very definition of genocide.

Hasbara Media

Israeli state terrorism is framed as self-defense.

And the West acquiesces. The malodorous cauldron of lies that is corporate media have been conditioned by Israel and its Hasbara handmaidens. Day after day, the word from the media is the same. “Locked into the two-sides paradigm,” western media still pedal hard the “possibility” that Israel’s strafing of Lebanon is legal, righteous. They still equate the bombing of the civilian structures of Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon—municipal buildings, medical clinics and hospitals, media offices and officers, first responders mid-rescue, firefighters—with “self-defense.”

State terrorism redefined as self-defense,” in the words of commentator Mouin Rabbani.

A media to whom the “punitive slaughter” of tens of thousands of civilians, the hacking of the private mobile devices of sovereign citizens (Palestinian, then Lebanese), so as to deliver sadistic, illegal marching orders—psychological warfare—to millions, scattering them hither and thither (Northen Gaza is being evicted anew); such a media’s very mission is to elide the truth for Israel. Corporate media has lost the right to write news.

A more reliable reporter from the ruins of a Beirut southern suburb is the prototypical elderly Arab gentleman, interviewed 13 minutes into a Middle East Eye segment about Israel’s Dahiyeh Doctrine: “They’re criminals. They are not fighting men with guns; they are killing women and children.”

Indeed, Israel’s perverted, purely “punitive slaughter” is made manifest in the latest documentary from acclaimed British journalist Richard Sanders, to mark one year of genocide. Israelis are on display in Gaza for the last year burning with white-hot hatred and contempt for all Palestinians (nay all Arabs), whom they clearly consider Untermensch, subhuman. Nowhere in evidence among the horribly brutalized bodies of Ghazzawi men, women and babies is combat. Nowhere in evidence are bodies of boys carrying firearms or men kitted for combat.

Even so, the only resistance to Israel’s depredations in Gaza and beyond has come from Hizballah, the Houthis and Hamas (as well as from popular militia in Iraq and Syria). These fighters are the only forces resisting the mad dog medinah (מְדִינָה is country in Hebrew), which has murdered one in every 55 Palestinians residing in Gaza.

The Responsibility To Protect

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah saw his Good Samaritan duty as an obligation, not an option.

Resistance fighters are heeding the highest calling: The “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P). Make no mistake; Israel ought to have been resisted; its victims protected. In international humanitarian and customary human rights law there is a “responsibility to protect” a community that is being evicted and eradicated. While libertarians would regard the “Responsibility To Protect” as largely voluntary; we naturally attach great moral virtue to the Good Samaritan.

As did the late Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah, secretary general of Hizballah, saw his Good Samaritan duty as an obligation, not an option. His people agreed. Acting in the spirit of R2P, the “Responsibility to Protect,” Nasrallah did the honorable and principled thing: The legendary Shia leader stood foursquare with his Sunni brethren in Gaza, against their Israeli mass murderers.

The world stood by during the Holocaust, even though the Final Solution and the facts of the death camps were known to the Allied powers late in the war. Mouin Rabbani, aforementioned, has thus drawn a parallel: Unlike the Allies during the Nazi extermination of Jews and other minorities; Nasrallah, a man with moxie and morals, refused to sit idle as Israel slaughtered Palestinians in Gaza. Likewise has Max Blumenthal likened Nasrallah’s disruptions on Israel’s northern border as the bombing of the railway tracks to Auschwitz. This, too, the Allied powers had failed to do.

For coming to the defense of Gaza, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah—Professor Norman Finkelstein had called him “The frankest most impressive leader on the world stage”—was martyred with American imprimatur and munitions: The payload consisted of eighty five 2000-pound, ground-penetrating bombs, “daisy chained together.” It was dropped by Israel on six apartment blocks in a residential suburb of the Dahiyeh, in four separate rounds. Hundreds of Lebanese died with Hassan Nasrallah.

In its unalloyed depravity, Israel is ever scheming on or murdering potential future adversaries. In accordance with its Killing-Just-In-Case jurisprudence, Israel has since also slain Nasrallah’s presumed successor, Hashem Safieddine, in his family home. These Prior Restraint statist doctrines are reprehensible to libertarians and liberty lovers. Yet Israel has no qualms about them. Why? Because Arabs are not allowed to entertain resistance to Israel’s crimes. (Incidentally, guess where the Kirya, Israel’s central military compound, is located? In the heart of the city of Tel Aviv. By Israel’s “morals and logic,” the Kirya and its surrounds are legitimate targets for the Resistance.)

Mowing The Lawn” is just another Israeli prior-restraint criminal tactic. In Israeli military bafflegab it’s called deterrence.

The West Bank & East Jerusalem Stolen

All that remain for the Palestinians are isolated outposts, surrounded by blockades, barrier walls, checkpoints and…state-supported terrorists

Secure in the warm bath of Super Power support; the Israelis, already uninhibited by normal standards of behavior, have gone into overdrive. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant now comfortably and brazenly speaks of “mowing the lawn” in the occupied West Bank, between Jenin and Hebron.

Before brutalizing Lebanon’s civilians, Gallant had announced, early in September, to his largely depraved populace that, “[T]he military has been ‘mowing the lawn’ during an ongoing major operation against terror groups in the West Bank, but will eventually need to ‘pull out the roots.’”

The current Israeli quest is to openly visit a Gaza-like annihilation on the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Genocide proper has come to the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which had only recently been invaded by columns of IDF Einsatzgruppen. The water torture has commenced. Taps have been turned off “in Jerusalem’s largest Palestinian neighborhood,” according to the reporters of the +972 magazine. Posses of settlers range across the West Bank in rampages of arson and plunder and with hubristic insolence.

Begun on August 28, the operation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem had been sadistically dubbed “Summer Camps” by IDF de Sade (by IDF standards, the eponymous Marqui de Sade was an amateur sexual sadist). The allusion is to hitting where resistance is fiercest, in the refugee camps. While the offensive against civilians is much less intense than in Gaza—no “saturation bombing” as yet—it is echoing it. “Summer Camps” is thus part of an accelerated and “concerted campaign to depopulate Palestine.”

“Under cover of war,” seconds the +972 investigative magazine, “Israel is demolishing home after home in Silwan, an East Jerusalem neighborhood, having “displac[ed] dozens of Palestinian residents this year.” The magazine, which manages somehow to sneak its reporters past Israeli snipers and into the occupied territories, confirms that “the Israeli army is destroying West Bank civilian infrastructure, blocking medical access, and conducting mass arrests in its largest West Bank operation in years.” Such arrests, 401 that we know of, mostly for offenses of speech, by the admission of The Times of Israel, are being conducted in Israel proper, too. The implicit aim, again, is to purge Palestine of Palestinians by making life relentlessly risky.

Between October 7 and September 30, of this year, there have been 895 Palestinian fatalities in the West Bank, including 201 children, reports OCHA. Again, while some strafing of civilians and their businesses from above has been carried out by the Israeli Air Force, the IDF’s grotesquely destructive efforts have focused on bulldozing roads, gutting water works and sewage mains, surrounding, destroying or just menacing mosques, markets, schools, universities, hospitals and clinics.

A desperate Bashir Matahen, director of public relations and media at the Jenin municipality, tells that, “The occupying (Israeli) forces have demolished more than 70 percent of [his] city’s streets completely (…) to a depth of approximately one to one-and-half meters, which has led to the destruction of water and sewage networks, as well as communication and electricity cables, in the areas that were demolished, initially estimated to cover 20 kilometers.”

All of which Francesca Albanese confirms. Via Ms. Albanese, UN special rapporteur to the occupied territories, comes confirmation of the reports of a full military assault on the West Bank, further damaging infrastructure already damaged in prior raids, and all the while instructing Palestinian occupants to abandon the coveted properties, and evacuate en mass. The genocidal impetus is indeed underway in the West Bank.

Palestinian dispossession in the West Bank is systemic, not sporadic. Sodomizing, strafing and stealing from occupied Palestinians—these are all in a day’s work for Israel’s finest. News, then, that Israeli hands are deep in Palestinian tills comes as no surprise: “Israel confiscated $265,000 from a money exchange shop in Hebron,” reports the Middle East Monitor.

In true obeisance to God’s laws, B’Tselem, the internationally renowned Israeli human rights organization, has also tracked the “forcible transfer of isolated Palestinian communities and single-farm families in Area C under cover of the Gaza fighting.” Between October 19, 2023 and August 29, 2024, the people of thirteen such hamlets had been removed from their ancestral lands, a way of life is being extinguished.

In an August 27 report, B’Tselem anatomized the general method by which the Israeli military assists settlers in grabbing land speedily by erecting minute-made “outposts and ‘agricultural farms.’” The trick is to informally establish facts on the ground, and thus skirt any poorly enforced legal process. By way of an example, B’Tselem deconstructs how the military assists settlers of “Meged Ha’aretz” in stealing the West Bank lands of Shufah and Kafa:

“Unlike formal multi-stage processes required to establish settlements, these [settler] outposts can be set up quickly and require relatively few resources and laborers. This method facilitates the state’s ability to shirk responsibility for land seizures as well as for the violent and illegal actions of the settlers who inhabit them, while simultaneously supporting these outposts in various ways.”

‘The settlers disturb the farmers working their land, deliberately provoking them and creating friction. They have also caused damage to hundreds of olive trees, agricultural structures, water containers and property; stolen equipment and livestock; sprayed graffiti; and burned greenhouses. They have instilled constant fear in the farmers and taken control of land by shooting in the air, intimidating Palestinian shepherds and preventing them from grazing their sheep and cattle in the area. Due to the violence and difficulty to access their grazing lands, some farmers have been forced to sell their herds—as feeding their livestock with purchased feed is too costly.’ (https://www.btselem.org/settler_violence/20240827_magged_haaretz_farm_military_assisted_settler_takeover_of_shufa_and_kafa_lands)

Their guns at the ready, the IDF soldiers look on as settlers rampage through West Bank villages, burning, looting and, yes, murdering. These Settler Pogroms  are covered extensively by Oren Ziv of +972. On September 2, B’Tselem documented how “undercover Border Police extrajudicially executed a military wing operative in front of bystanders in the Jenin industrial zone.” Arrests? What for? Nothing to see here. Move along. “If you try to defend yourself, you’re dead,’” attest the Palestinian victims. Resist the IDF and you die sans due process of the law.

Heroically have the Palestinian farmers and sheepherders of the South Hebron Hills struggled to uphold their ancestral lifestyle. They live in daily fear for their lives and the lives of family and livestock. How much longer can they linger without urgent and active intervention to uphold their basic rights to life, liberty and property?

Notwithstanding settler land theft en masse, a lot of people are staying with the story of the two-state solution. What about it, then?

The Two-State Solution Killed

The object of any future Palestinian State must be security, first, not amity, and a ‘Never Again’ mindset.

There is slim to no chance of a contiguous Palestinian State alongside Israel, given that Israel’s settlement policy in the West Bank has ensconced near one-million Jews on Palestinian land throughout the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Monomaniacally focused, state-supported outlaw settlers are violently stealing Palestinian land as we speak. Close to a million of them, if we include East Jerusalem. All that remain for the Palestinians are isolated outposts, surrounded by blockades, barrier walls, checkpoints and…state-supported terrorists.

To the extent it was ever sincere, the two-state solution was killed by Israel and “the Israeli state’s auxiliary armed forces,” Dr. Rabbani’s moniker for the settlers. The coming into being of a contiguous Palestinian territory has been made impossible.

Considering that settlers and their ideology have tentacular reach into Israeli institutions, civil and state—the chances for a two-state solution are vanishingly small. Take the judiciary: Punishment for settler land theft and other felony crimes perpetrated against Palestinians in occupied Palestine is almost unheard of, as illustrated in the chapter, “Israel’s Law Of Rule In The West Bank,” in the essay “Defending Gaza (II): Israel Engaged In The Mother Of All Performative Contradictions: Denying Genocide, While Committing Genocide, Effectively Asserting A Right To Genocide.” B’Tselem has published countless research exposés on the marriage between the Israeli State and its settler “auxiliary armed forces.

Even the idea of “the two peoples, getting along, and actually drawing strength from each other” is Panglossian, at this stage. (Pangloss is the “unfailingly optimistic character” in Candide, Voltaire’s 1759 “satire on philosophical optimism.”)

Palestinians have been martyred en masse by their Jewish supremacist neighbors, who’ve shown themselves to be mired, as a society, in unspeakable debaucheries, and uncommonly capable of exterminating Palestinian survivors.

Who would fall into such a homicidal trap again?

Given the threat to their very existence, Palestinians must not be forced into existential ennui by the West. They already are like a mouse before a cat. Given this reality, the object of any future Palestinian State must be security, first, not amity with Israel. That, and a “Never Again” mindset. Any future Palestinian State is useless unless it affords the most imperiled people in the world the ability to defend against the most perilous people in the world.

Living Alongside Serial-Killing Sexual Sadists

The pairing, in Israel, of sexual arousal and violence toward Palestinians makes for a particularly irremediable pathology, the stuff of serial killers.

Israel’s bacchanalia in Gaza and the West Bank includes a Gulag of clandestine rendition torture camps, wherein thousands of Palestinian detainees languish without charges or due process, and are systemically and systematically raped, beaten, starved and left traumatized, twisted and deformed, disabled or dead. (“Something very sick and evil is happening in Israel’s jails. Welcome to hell is not an exaggeration,” reports the legendary Peter Oborne.)

Honed in rendition torture camps, sexual violence has become the coin of the Greater Israel realm. Settler-conquerors now roam the hamlets of the South Hebron Hills, out, loud and proud in threatening rape. Apparently, raping another helpless man is considered manly in Israel, a country that is otherwise more woke than any in the West.

In the one unremarkable vignette, filmed by B’Tselem, an armed settler threatens a Palestinian farmer in the South Hebron Hills with rape. “Rape in the name of God,” a la Sde Teiman, promises settler Shem Tov Luski, to a horrified Palestinian.

In yet another typical settler vignette, Turkish TV captured a uniformed IDF manhandling himself on camera, in a manner not fit to print. Reflexively. Apparently, threatening a helpless group of Palestinian homesteaders has aroused this IDF.

Holy Redemption: Stealing Palestinian Land,” a TRT World Exclusive documentary, plainly follows and records these settlers in character. There is no editorializing. Twenty-nine minutes and 20 seconds into this TRT settler odyssey we find said IDF soldier, in cahoots with settlers, hissing: “I spit on Palestine. F-ck your mother. I’m the Israeli Army.” He is not done.

Just as I imagined this breed of Cain could not expose itself as more indecent, the hissing, uniformed IDF soldier comes close to indecent exposure. At the said timestamp, the atavistic, low-brow individual shows himself to be lacking the inhibitions to keep his perversion private.

The Palestinian olive growers and shepherds of the austere Hebron Hills are necessarily a Spartan people. For centuries they have made things grow despite arid soil and the scarcity of water. They look like they belong; like authentic outdoor folk. The Settlers, on the other hand, look ridiculous. Out of place. In marked contrast to the dignity of the Palestinians of the Hebron Hills, settler flotsam and jetsam are an epitome of degeneracy.

Why, then, would Palestinians, a traditional, rather regal people, wish to “draw strength” and inspiration, in the future, from their genocidal neighbors, the great Israeli unwashed, who’ve done to them things that make the thickest skin crawl?

This I ask in the context of peacemaking—for also talked up among some is a utopic time when “the two peoples [Jewish-Israeli and Palestinian] will get along, and actually draw strength from each other.”

Daily, the Palestinians’ closest neighbors, the settlers, make manifest their red-hot hatred toward them, stealing land, regularly slaughtering helpless livestock with biblical cruelty, and generally menacing Palestinian property owners. Most disturbing is the overt, perverted sexual sadism of settlers and their soldier helpers.

The Nazis, whose spiritual heirs Israel is shaping up to be, paradoxically, hid their systematic crimes against humanity; Israeli Jews—a majority, at least—either celebrate or are callously nonchalant about felonies, perversions and crimes against Palestinians.

Israeli shamelessness is the quality that has helped the Al Jazeera Investigation Unit (IU) commit to a database thousands of videos, photos and social media posts “posted online by Israeli soldiers themselves during the year-long genocide” in the Gaza Strip.

The exultant whoops of individual IDF soldiers, mid murder, are now part of a dossier, a database. “Where possible, the Investigation Unit has identified the posters and those who appear,” leaving the International Criminal Court (ICC) with little else to do but to verify, and then initiate criminal proceedings. (Small wonder IDF squirrels are frantically deleting their social media accounts pursuant to the airing of “War Crimes in Gaza,” and to the filing, by Belgium’s “Hind Rajab Foundation,” of  a complaint to the ICC against at least 1000 IDF putative war criminals.)

Israel’s soldier sons and daughters are the stars in the country’s genocide constellation. In addition to “a range of illegal activities, from wanton destruction and looting to the demolition of entire neighborhoods and murder,” what emerges most palpably from “War Crimes in Gaza,” and from my own year-long observations, is the sexual undercurrent that accompanies IDF sadism—from pilfering Palestinian women’s panties to raping their men.

The nub and the rub of it: How do you extinguish, for the purpose of peacemaking, pathologically murderous sexual arousal? Do you chemically castrate IDF soldiers and settlers?

What of Israeli society? It, too, is a picture of moral decadence. Israeli sofa tv pundits are as chatty and blasé about “mowing the lawn” as they are about the sexual rupturing of Palestinian anatomy. Israelis themselves have partied on. It’s vodka in the bars, volleyball on the beaches. All the while, a few kilometers south of this Dionysian debauchery is genocide. Watch footage montage from Israel proper. Down south of the coast from these frolicking Israelis, on Gaza’s shores, fishermen are blown out of the waters should they try to fish to feed their families. (“How Israel destroyed Gaza’s ability to feed itself,” Al Jazeera, July 2, 2024.)

And what other country proudly names one of its killer creeds, the “Dahiyeh Doctrine,” “after an area of Beirut” where it had perfected its predation? No other than Israel.

Israel is the proud promulgator of the immoral, illegal “doctrine of inflicting massive harm to civilians,” perversely named for its victims. Imagine a serial killer, Randall Woodfield, for example—he hunted along Highway I-5—calling his killer craft the “Highway I-5 Doctrine.” Imagine Wikipedia describing Woodfield as originator of the “I-5 Doctrine.”

By all accounts, special prestige is attached in Jewish-Israeli society to the perpetrators of the kind of crimes that “knock the cosmos out of kilter.”

Rescue Plan Required, Not A Political Strategy

When a serial killer is loosed in your neighborhood; crime-reduction social programs are not the things you reach for.

Imagine your 911 dispatcher answering your “I am dying, send help” emergency call with, “We are working on community based, crime-reduction strategies.” By extension, boycotts and embargoes relate to Israel mid-murder as crime-reduction policies relate to a crime in progress.

It would seem fair to surmise, then, that stopping an ideology—Israel’s genocidal mindset or America’s sacralization of Israel—is a long-term endeavor, a strategy. A strategy, political or other, does not a rescue plan make. A long-term strategy is not the answer to an S.O.S. life-and-death situation.

When a serial killer is loosed in your neighborhood; crime-reduction social programs or political strategies are not the things you reach for.

Crime-reduction strategies, in the case of Israel, are those long-term incentive-based plans to increase humanity’s safety and security, by disincentivizing an entity that has proven to constitute a danger to the comity and safety of nations.

The private, voluntary, slow-motion Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement “works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians and pressure Israel to comply with international law.” Voluntary economic boycotts on Israel and mandatory state embargoes on shipments of weapons to Israel: these are all well and good. But they are long-term strategies, not S.O.S. interventions in regional mass murder ongoing; these are not solutions to the problem of a mass murderer loosed on the Near East.

Israel is a promiscuous and licentious killer. To the mass-murdering medinah, the lives of Arabs are as cheap as the talk we in the West deploy about “stopping Israel.”

We’ve watched all of civilization’s edifices destroyed by Israel—from the sanctity of life, liberty and property to well-meaning legal frameworks designed to uphold these inalienable individual rights.

Israel, moreover, is humanity’s most barbaric instantiation. Not only does it target humanity’s most vulnerable, but also its finest and noblest; the people we most rely on: altruistic aid and rescue workers, healers in their clinics ministering to their patients, peace activists, writers, reporters and intellectuals recording the crimes for posterity.

For the better part of a year, we the people of Rome’s provinces have appealed to Rome on the Potomac. The magnificent, human rights and rescue community has “warned” and cajoled the Axis of Genocide—begged anyone they could buttonhole—while working and dying with their Palestinian charges in the field.

No petition to the United States has worked so far. America is not the solution, it’s the problem. On top of its already strong presence in the region as a standby and backup to its cheerless satellite—the United States is now sending Israel “an advanced anti-missile system and soldiers to operate it,” symbolically, at least, deepening America’s craven commitment to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, the West Bank and their regional defenders.

Because he considers Israel a rib from the United States’ rib cage, Matthew Miller at Foggy Bottom gives us The Talk: “We’re calling on our Israeli allies to improve their ways in war, to look into this or that massacre having spontaneously materialized in Palestine. These massacres are indeed very disturbing.”

Wryly, Electronic Intifada’s Ali Abunimah, Palestinian activist and thinker, offers up an apt syllogism for this American-Israeli stagecraft, 58 minutes into a conversation with journalist extraordinaire Rania Khalek:

“These reports of young men and women disappearing across America, and showing up brutally murdered are very disturbing. We ask Charles Manson, and John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer to carry out a very serious investigation and to hold those responsible accountable. It is really important that we hold people accountable, so we would really like Jeffrey Dhamer and John Wayne Gacy and Charles Manson to investigate this. And, the United State will work with them to do that.”

We cannot be lulled into the torpor of such talk.

Bullies must be stood up to and stopped. By definition, a bully is a coward. A bully, especially one imbued with a messianic, millenarian sense of supremacy, understands one thing: a united show of force. Israel’s regional serial killing needs to be stopped forthwith, and by force!

The attitude of the Arab countries, the Arab League, has been to let Israel do what it wants just so long as they were not the ones being targeted. But then they were.

The nub and the rub: War on civilians is a war on civilization. The coward’s aggression must be forcefully and righteously countered.

The Israeli State, which continues to operate outside the remits of man-made law and God’s law, must be defanged. You don’t negotiate with Charles Manson, John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer…

The plan to stop Israel will have to involve righteous, regional, counterforce. Details next.

Mercer is described as “a system-builder. Distilled, her modus operandi has been to methodically apply first principles to the day’s events.” She’s Jewish and grew up in Israel from which she fled, aged 19, never to return.  She had refused the military. Her focus, since October of 2023, has been genocide. A war against civilians is a war on civilization. Or, as one sage succinctly put it, “At a time of genocide; genocide is the only issue.”

A HARD TRUTH podcast with Daniel McAdams Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity:

“What Next After Genocide-By-Proxy and The Murder Of Diplomacy? The Quest For Peace.”

ILANA believes that America’s open, even-energetic support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza is a defining event in the annals of American foreign policy, and that this failure is qualitatively different from blunders that went before. In its role in Gaza, Uncle Sam has finally achieved an official or formal inversion of all decent, universal values.
Former supporters of Israel, like ilana Mercer, David Vance and Daniel McAdams, Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity, are aghast. Can we claw back from the precipice?
DAVID believes that US Foreign Policy in almost every respect is self-defeating although perhaps that is the aim. David makes it abundantly clear he supports Israel wiping Hamas off the face of the earth but he does NOT support the mass punishment of the people of Gaza.
To ilana’s question, “Is Gaza much more than an American foreign-policy failure,” Mr. McAdams, who co-produces and co-hosts the “Ron Paul Liberty Report” with Dr. Paul, replies, however, with considered calm and wisdom. Mr. McAdams proceeds to shepherd viewers of the HARD TRUTH podcast through the ins-and-outs of US foreign policy and the crooked dynamics at play among lobbyists in Washington D.C. and beyond. To counter ilana’s gloomy Cassandra—and bolstered by a deep grasp of the American System as it is and as it should be—Daniel melds principle with policy in presenting a way forward:
“A prosperous America is profoundly linked to a foreign policy rooted in peaceful relations and trade with all. With peace, comes real prosperity.”
Daily, over decades, alongside Dr. Ron Paul and independently; Daniel McAdams has done the work of the Lord in explaining to a stiff-necked people, Americans, why current US foreign policy is antithetical to peace and prosperity; to life and liberty, at home and abroad.

To refuse to bear witness to the prosecution of Total Warfare against Gazans is to be inhuman, insane, incoherent. To the Greek philosophers, to be mired in such contradiction was to be less than human, less than coherent, less than sane ~ ilana (12/2023)

If you know in advance that your actions will cause the deaths of thousands-upon-thousands of civilians; attached to your criminal actions (actus reus) is a guilty mind (mens rea), which means malice aforethought, also known as intent, in Western jurisprudence and judicial philosophy ~ilana (11/2023)

For one thing, he who offends against innocents is responsible for his offenses; not a third party. For another, as I hope we have established here before, Whether it is committed by decree of the one or by the will of the many; by actors within or without The State; by the designated ‘good guys’ or by the ‘bad guys’—murder of innocents is still murder. Murder by ‘democratic’ approval is also still murder, however many approve of it ~ilana (1/2024)

Israel has rendered Gaza a “moonscape in war,” uninhabitable for years to come, reduced to rubble by “the most intense air campaigns in the modern record.” Not only is Israel murdering tens of thousands of Gaza’s civilians–25,700 Palestinians; an average of 200 to 300 souls a day–but it has gone and done a Taliban on the Gaza strip’s heritage sites, some dating back to antiquity.

Even the Wall Street Journal, in support of Israel’s “operation,” is now hip to the wanton death and destruction. Writes its Middle East correspondent:

By mid-December, Israel had dropped 29,000 bombs, munitions and shells on the strip. Nearly 70% of Gaza’s 439,000 homes and about half of its buildings have been damaged or destroyed. The bombing has damaged [and destroyed] Byzantine churches and ancient mosques, factories and apartment buildings, shopping malls and luxury hotels, theaters and schools. Much of the water, electrical, communications and healthcare infrastructure that made Gaza function is beyond repair. Most of the strip’s 36 hospitals are shut down, and only eight are accepting patients. Citrus trees, olive groves and greenhouses have been obliterated. More than two-thirds of its schools are damaged.

Glad as I am that the War Street Journal has awoken to this unbridled barbarism—there is so much more to add to the butcher’s bill.

By November, 2023, Gaza City was gone. Anshel Pfeffer, at a Ha’aretz, an Israeli national newspaper, believed that his gimlet eye alone had spied that, “The IDF now sits on top of a mound of ruins that was once Gaza City. … Cities have been destroyed before, in the Middle East and across the world, in both ancient and recent history. But when this happens, it is a seismic event for nations.”

What a load of self-important tosh, I thought at the time, to claim as an “insight” what was in plain sight. But Pfeffer was right: Gaza City, the largest Palestinian city, was gone and Israel’s lickspittle supporters stateside, and in the civilized world, had not noticed, much less protested, aside Turkey’s president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who threatened to raise an army on Israel.

So, the Devil rolled on. He, שטן, was loosed in Gaza.

The “Hamas Made Me Mass Murder” Argument

By December 3, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) was unleashing on the “safe” Southern Gaza, the enclave to which it had directed the refugees to flee. Those little grey donkeys, indubitably dropping dead, too, for lack of food and water—ostensibly carting their owners and their meager belongings to safety: They were going… nowhere.

Little donkeys dying in the rubble conjured Shai Agnon, Israel’s greatest writer, whose masterpiece novels I read and reread in the Hebrew, in thrall to the perfection of the writer’s sentences and the purity of his soul.

In his 1966 acceptance speech—Agnon, a devout Jew, won the Nobel Prize for literature when it was still worth something—this pious, humble, righteous soul (the term for his ilk in the Israel of my youth was “beautiful of soul,” יפה-נפש) paid spiritual tribute to the critters:

Lest I slight any creature, I must also mention the domestic animals, the beasts and birds from whom I have learned. Job said long ago (135:11): ‘Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, And maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?’ Some of what I have learned from them I have written in my books, but I fear that I have not learned as much as I should have, for when I hear a dog bark, or a bird twitter, or a cock crow, I do not know whether they are thanking me for all I have told of them, or calling me to account.

In truth, Israel owns the killing field that is Gaza, circa 2023/2024. The offensive it has waged on Gaza is as close to Total Warfare (a term reserved for war against any and all), as modern war has gotten.

And war against civilians is war on civilization.

Yet, all Israel has to do to make world leaders turn tail is intone psychopathically that “Hamas made me do it. Hamas ate my homework; I mean my conscience.”

The “Hamas made me murder 25,700 souls (at least) and displace two million men, women and children” excuse-making “argument” will not wash as an argument for mass murder. Murder by “democratic” approval is also still murder, however many approve of it.

Besides, mass murder is never “unintentional” when you know it is inevitable and incidental to your “mission.”

Annoying as they are, neither do the pitiful caches of arms, ostensibly located in hospitals, begin to justify the grotesquely disproportionate sallies against Gaza’s Al Shifa Hospital and all other hospitals, murdering patients and refugees. A hospital should never be demolished.

Instead, demolish we must the demented “argument” that claims for Israel a right to drop dumb bombs, on Gaza’s doctors and patients. The former, apparently, are expected not only to palliate their imperiled patients, but also account for the Resistances’ whereabouts.

Ha’aretz (Israel News, Thursday, 14.12.2023) relays that, “Nearly half of the munitions Israel’s Air Force used in Gaza have been unguided, also known as ‘dumb bombs’ [imprecise], according to a new U.S. intel assessment.”

I said 25,700 souls murdered, “at least,” because many are still buried beneath the rubble. There are now over 1.9 million displaced persons in Gaza, reports Human Rights Watch. These include the littlest of children: Babies in incubators, their tiny bodies pierced by IV drips (which must be deftly inserted by dedicated healthcare providers), evacuated; shuttled from hospital to hospital, in constant peril. Some of Gaza’s  preemies were driven to Cairo, most without their parents for the babies may be orphans. Egyptian doctors were to try and stabilize these critically ill, malnourished neonatals who had been deprived systematically of oxygen, nutrients, and medicine.

By The Devil.

If murder of the unburn is evil, as we are frequently lectured, one might ask those who live by the light of truth, what about fully formed little people? Is it okay to make repeated attempts on the lives of Gaza’s babies?

No opinion poll poses direct questions. It is, however, becoming less difficult to divine what the Israeli public thinks of mass murder and displacement of civilians committed in its name. The gateway that is Google is in defend-Israel-at-all-costs mode, offering sparse information. It has, however, allowed into the “Israeli public support” search the fact that, “More than 90 percent of Jewish Israelis support the twin goals of crushing Hamas and saving the hostages.”

Combine that reasonable sentiment with the fact that fully 83 percent of a representative sample of Israelis replied favorably to this “Direct Polls” question: “To what degree do you support encouraging the voluntary emigration of Gaza Strip residents?” Since nothing that has befallen Gazans has been “voluntary”; the question is as cynical as the enthusiastically supportive answers are sincere.

By and large, Israelis are down with their leadership’s orgiastic, indiscriminate bloodletting in Gaza. Most are merely demanding a return of the hostages, and the continuance of the assault on Gazans, punctured by cease fires. Israelis appear oblivious to the unutterable, irreversible, irremediable ruin adjacent.

Israel In Which I Grew Up: Gone

The Israel of my formative years was no Eden before the Fall. But today’s Israel is qualitatively different from the Israel in which I spent formative years. Progressives dismiss any “back then” insights as nostalgia: Obsolete people making obsolete observations about a past long gone, they say.

Like left-liberals, lite libertarians (“The Kochtopus” now supporting Nikki Haley”) also seem to suggest that the past has nothing to offer, and all change is good, always. Memorably reviewed by libertarian philosopher Dr. David Gordon, Virginia Postrel’s book, The Future and its Enemies, fits this category. All that glitters is gold was the essence of Ms. Postrel’s second manifesto, The Substance of Style.

From a position on the opposing libertarian hard right, and as a reactionary, I see reactionaries as enlightened conservators. One of the advantages of age, then, is historic perspective, harking back to the past. There is value in looking back, even if it is only to lament what is no longer. Doesn’t the Left preach the merits of processing grief?

The country in which I was raised, Israel, is no longer. It is now “Little America on the Mediterranean.” By this moniker I mean to denote a country that is now run—and overrun—by diaspora-supported religious fanatics and neoconservatives, Jewish and gentile. A slick, monied American and immigrant Jewry and attendant gentile interests stateside have the run of the place, especially in the West Bank. ( See “More U.S. Jews Moved to West Bank Settlements in 2021…”.)

Little Jewish America lives on “beyond the Green Line.”

With plenty comes complacency. This is to be expected. Israel no longer has the pioneering spirit of its inception. Witness the lazy, lumbering, and late-to-the-rescue military. The IDF reflects the mindset that comes with development. Its failure on October 7 is, to an extent, an adjunct of affluence, the typical standing army of a regional, well-to-do power.

But there is more. The Israel in which I spent my formative years was led by the secular left, which had permeated early Israel’s institutions. The German Jews, the Yekkes, in particular. Religion was not taught or even alluded to in our public schools, unless one attended a private religious school. These were not genocide-preaching madrassas.

In my experience, Israel’s German Jews, especially, were not Jewish supremacists. Rather, they were influenced by the secular (Haskalah) השכלה , a Jewish Enlightenment. Of that formative generation of German Jews was Uri Avneri, an early ethical voice against Israeli state aggression and war.

Avneri, editor of the now defunct העולם הזה  (HaOlam HaZeh), was to later feature on America’s Antiwar.com website (where my work appeared, too). HaOlam HaZeh was  aptly described by the Financial Times as “oscillating between path-breaking investigations and scurrilous gossip, between the sensational and the salacious.” All true. The saucy pictures on the back cover were a magnet for most males. My father, who certainly qualified, had introduced me to Uri Avneri’s thinking.

Later in life, dad, of blessed memory, drifted into inchoate American neoconservatism, along with the rest of an Americanized world. Growing up in Israel, however, he was a man of the Old Left. Center-left Ha’aretz was thus a staple in my reading. Then the most highbrow of Israel’s dailies, Ha’aretz had intellectual ballast, and was known for its solid news reporting and exposes. The other two broadsheets, Maariv and Yediot, were markedly inferior. I don’t know if, in those days, there was anything as intellectually debased as “Israel Hayom,” because I was expected to read the aforementioned newspapers, in that order.

Grubbier than Fox News, if you can believe it, “Israel Hayom” was founded by American billionaire, gambling tycoon Sheldon Adelson, a big Bibi patron. The reader can see what I mean by “Little America on the Mediterranean,” but with a touch of Vegas.

For reading on the Right, I had sought out and read erudite thinkers like Menachem Begin, who brokered peace with Egypt’s Anwar Sadat, and Ze’ev Jabotinsky, a more Misesian classical liberal.

In time, this eclectic influence would smooth my transition into the Old American Right. The American Old and Only Valid Right—Murray N. Rothbard and Lew Rockwell leading the paleolibertarian flank; Russell Kirk at the helm of paleoconservatism—had rejected unjust war. The Old Right’s brief I see as very much congruent with the Biblical injunction of “Justice, and justice alone, you shall pursue” (Deuteronomy 16: 18-20).

Murder And Ethnic Cleansing Mainstreamed

These days, Israel’s political discourse is marred by the likes of Eliyahu Yossian, a mainstream opinionator. Listening as I did with difficulty to Yossian, I detect the delicate Iranian twang in his accent, although there is no sign of delicacy in this zealot’s worldview. Nothing authentically American, either. “Hamas is not the enemy,” he vociferates, “Gaza is. You level the area, and you kill the largest possible numbers, because the woman there is an enemy, the baby there is an enemy and the first grader is an enemy …and the pregnant woman is the enemy.” Yossian goes on to explain that Israel must not entertain “Western values” because these “blur basic logic.”

And so the IDF has done. Should you want proof that this man’s views have gone mainstream in Israel; look at Gaza. It’s a moonscape. What are your lying eyes telling you, to use Richard Pryor’s wry phrase for he who has been caught in flagrante delicto? As they were turning Gaza into Dresden on TV, before our very eyes, Israel’s quicksilver state propagandists were also telling us, their American funders, that “this is not happening.” Who are you going to believe? Democratic Israel, or your ‘lying eyes’?”

I believe my “lying eyes,” thank you very much. Those “lying eyes” speak to the scale of Israel’s depredations against Gazans. By any other name, this is evil incarnate. You cover up this truth at your peril—fail to bear witness to it; and your soul is doomed. Yet, many Christian Israel Firsters have turned away from those whom God commands them to succor. Some even proceeded to deny the Gaza holocaust as it was unfolding. The number of dead, via “the Hamas-controlled health ministry’s,” is suspect, I have been lectured.

Ha’aretz is Israel’s newspaper of record. Daily, they relay “the Hamas-controlled health ministry’s” numbers. Ha’aretz, which supports the war, would not be using these figures, were they not “broadly reliable,” a phrase used widely by reputable humanitarian, aid-rendering organizations worldwide.

“The numbers may not be perfectly accurate on a minute-to-minute basis,” said Michael Ryan, of the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Program. “But they largely reflect the level of death and injury.” (“What is Gaza’s Ministry of Health and how does it calculate the war’s death toll?”)

Essentially, believe your “lying eyes.”

Satellite-radar science certainly doesn’t lie. Satellite companies had restricted images of Gaza, reported SEMAFOR, effectively concealing crimes against humanity. My educated guess: They’re beholden to the clientèle, the military-industrial-complex, and the National Security Agency (NSA). The Top Dog client is the U.S. military. The client state is Israel’s defense force.

A counter—and a cause for patriotism—came via Scientific American: “Amid restrictions on optical satellite images, [American] researchers had developed a radar technique to gauge building damage in Gaza.” The charred smudges from space, where once the Gaza Strip was, are apocalyptic. Dystopian. Undeniable.

The science belied the holocaust denial, and other good souls bore witness to it too:

“We are no strangers to human suffering—to conflict, to natural disasters, to some of the world’s largest and gravest catastrophes—but we’ve seen nothing like the siege of Gaza”: So wrote leaders of some of the world’s top humanitarian organizations, in a New York Times op-ed on Tuesday, December 13. (Via Jake Johnson, of Common Dreams.)

You are what you do.

The IDF has hunted down and killed its own with the same zeal it has reserved for letting the blood of Gaza’s civilians. A preliminary IDF Report about those Israeli “hostages killed by soldiers, as they waved a white flag, and yelled for help in Hebrew,” revealed the following: “IDF soldiers had spotted a building two days prior with the inscription ‘SOS’ and ‘Help! Three hostages,’ inscribed on a wall.” (Ha’aretz, Sat., 16.12.023) On encounter, the three had indeed waved a white flag, and had stripped down to their skinny torsos. Still, the IDF opened-fire on them. The hostages were hunted down. They died running from the Jewish State’s soldiers.

The IDF’s appetite for destruction is worse than unwholesome. The near-gleeful chase and murder of hostages by IDF soldiers exists on a continuum of depravity. Extrapolate one can from this—the IDF’s killing of surrendered, manifestly unarmed men—to the IDF’s Rules of Engagement with Gaza’s civilians, evident in the orgiastic bloodletting and heartless ethnic cleansing winding to a close (as there are no more ethnic Gazans to uproot). Killing their own with such unexamined ease says something about this army’s Rules of Engagement with its prey, Gaza’s civilians.

Honest military experts, including Avner Gvaryahu, who heads “Breaking the Silence,” a whistleblower group that documents testimonies of former Israeli soldiers, concurred: “The army said this happened in violation of the rules of engagement. I’m skeptical of that, based on what we know of previous operations in Gaza,” he said.

More evidence that Eliyahu Yossian’s genocidal talk is normal currency in Israel was provided, in October, by a Netanyahu government policy paper. I read Israel’s population eviction document in Hebrew, in English, and in incredulity.

Where does The Devil wish Gaza’s two-million-plus displaced and hobbled civilians to go? Option C of the “Israeli Intelligence Ministry[’s] Policy Paper On Gaza’s Civilian Population, October 2023″ had spelled it out:

To the Sinai desert!  The “policy” paper expounds on, “The evacuation of the civilian population from Gaza to Sinai” and the creation of ערי-אוהלים  (“Arei Ohalim, “tent cities”), in the Sinai desert! It has since been “doctored,” denuded of the ערי-אוהלים  phrase pursuant to national and international grumbling.

From the vertiginous heights of his contempt-dripping arrogance, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has mock-asked that “countries interested in taking in Gazan refugees send his office an email, including ‘the address of the country.’” In the same vein, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party, has said that, “What needs to be done in the Gaza Strip is to encourage emigration.”

Point proven! QED! Quod erat demonstrandum, or משל, which is how my Russian-Israeli math teacher taught us to sign our mathematical proofs. There is good evidence to show that Eliyahu Yossian does not appear to be an outlier in Israeli civil and political discourse.

By contrast, many of the October 7 victims were lefties, peace activists, lovers not haters, nowhere as ideological as their West Bank counterparts and the illiterate bobble heads of Israeli TV.

I wonder, then: Were the Israeli communities in the South, victims of October 7, political outliers? Is it perhaps more than symbolic that forsaken by the Jewish State, on October 7, were poorer Israelis, politically less influential communities, who more resembled the Israel of Old to which I harken here?

Ehud Barak, a remnant of that older left, is a former prime minister, defense minister and decorated soldier. Parroting American constitutional and natural rights, he told a reporter that the pursuit of happiness is predicated on the right to life, which the IDF failed to uphold. It was worse than that: The rights to life of the Israelis on the southern front were treated as forfeit by the Jewish State.

The spectral IDF took nine hours to arrive on the scene, but just in time to rain indiscriminate helicopter Hellfire missiles on survivors (as יואב זיתון attested in a Ynet article, on 15.10.23), and count the dead. Israeli reservist pilot, Colonel Nof Erez—speaking in good Hebrew, not in the excitable, anglicized Pidgin Hebrew heard from most of the TV operatives out of Israel—described the Israeli army’s response to October 7 as “mass Hannibal.”

Again: after observing what has been done in Gaza—an obscene, operationally idiotic offensive, in which 70 percent of the casualties are women and children—almost anything appears possible. In conversation with broadcaster Aryeh Golan, Yasmin Porat, a survivor of October 7—quiet, calm, logical, she too orating in fine Hebrew, absent the ugly Anglicisms—attests to the same: IDF forces shot their own civilians. Listen.

Was a doctrine such as “Hannibal” still extant? God help Israel if this is so.

Fox News, War Porn Militarytainment

To explain their support for willy-nilly mass murder in Gaza, Israelis often send me articles from another country, America, in a language not their own, English. Their source, in particular, is the intellectually subpar Fox News, the war porn channel. The channel that produced the “Militarytainment” that accompanied Genghis Bush’s war against Iraqi civilians.

Back home, on Fox News, “Israelism” is the gospel which they never cease to proclaim. Everything Israel is papered over, excused, and finessed.

In Fox News’ neoconservative nirvana, the broads and their enablers are ever turned-on, tuned-out, and hot for war, inadvertently and reflexively. It’s the nature of the high-time-preference character. People who are in a constant state of heightened emotional arousal tend to want to remain that way; the emotions have a self-reinforcing urgency. War—for Bush or for Bibi—its propaganda and its prosecutors get the Foxettes hot. Perverted warpath patriotism gets these folks and their followers hot. The military-industrial-complex thrives when women on display, enabled by their male accomplices, shake their wares for war.

Not for naught do Fox types give frequent ode, as do all in the Israel First media, to the hotness of distaff IDF. It’s called war porn, and is a feature of the high-time-preference individual who follows, and performs on, Fox News in wartime.

The Antisemitism Libel

Holding forth in favor of pulverizing the people of Gaza and their meager belongings is Fox News’ Tyrus (real name George Murdoch). Among his repertoire of factoids is a lot of belching about antisemitism, allegedly rife in America. This antisemitism nonsense is more offensive than Tyrus’ inked flesh, spilling over copiously into a studio armchair. Wailing about “antisemitism,” as perceived by the opposition’s speech or protest against Israel, is intended to silence opposition to mass murder and ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

The words people speak, write, tweet; the beliefs they are known to hold, the flags they fly or burn, the symbolic, non-violent ceremonies and rituals they enact, the insignia, paraphernalia, the goose-stepping, the Hitler salutes they muck around with—all that is protected speech. You may not like it; but it’s licit in natural law.

Again: The “antisemitism” claims-making is meant to silence and sunder free speech, one of the most cherished American (Voltairean) values, clearly not shared by our Israeli “democratic allies.”

Americans are hardly deficient in their solidarity for the Jewish State and for Jews, in general. American society is philosemitic, even Zionist.

The ILLOGIC Of The Justification

In sum, and quite simply, vis-à-vis Gaza, anyone born in His Image (b’tselem) בצלם, should be able to grasp these rules, instantiated in the Decalogue. In particular, by The Sixth Commandment, “Thou shall not murder.”

Often mistranslated, Exodus 20:13 enjoins against murder, not against righteous killing, as in the right of self-defense, instantiated in our Second Amendment. The biblical text reads לא תרצח (“Lo tirtzach!”), which means “do not murder.” In the original (unless mistranslated from the Hebrew), it does not say לא תהרוג (“Lo taharog”), which is “do not kill.” Big difference.

There is nothing righteous about Israel’s murder spree in Gaza.

If one is enjoined against aiding and abetting in the murder of a single innocent individual; by logical extension, we Americans should not knowingly aid and abet in the murder of the many. Not in our name.

“But what else could the Israelis have done,” asks reader Rich, a question posed to me by quite a few smart people. The question, “What else could the Israelis have done?”, is rooted in a logical fallacy. This is so, for the question sets up a false dichotomy or a false dilemma not in evidence, and is thus an error of reason.

The Hoover Institution’s Admiral James O. Ellis Jr. traces the contours of this illogic:

In classical logic, the false dichotomy, or false dilemma, is defined as an argument where only two choices are presented yet more exist, or a spectrum of possible choices exists between two extremes. False dilemmas are usually characterized by ‘either this or that’ language but can also be characterized by the omission of choices. This insidious tactic has the appearance of forming a logical argument, but under closer scrutiny it becomes evident that there are more possibilities than the either/or choice that is presented.

It’s too late, now, but “it was indeed possible to defeat culpable Hamas members and prevent the carnage in Gaza.”

The Israeli high court could have initiated criminal proceedings, engaging the International Criminal Court in issuing arrest warrants for all members of Hamas. It could have demanded that the civilized world refuse to succor or give them safe passage, arresting culpable Hamas members forthwith. Independent agencies would have easily been corralled to do the processing, as we know just how effective the Surveillance and Security State is, American and Israeli, in gathering intelligence on us, its law-abiding subjects.

Here’s an even more radical idea: Place the useless IDF and its celebrity generals on the border, before the citizens, not behind them. If the IDF practice enough, they can reach the kibbutzim and yishuvim they had abandoned, on October 7, in less than nine hours. With the best of its special-operations units, be it the “Golani” or “Sayeret Matkal,” Israel could then have conducted precision operations into Gaza’s tunnels. (But, as we’ve since learned, IDF are not brave.)

What world admiration would Israel have garnered. And how effective would the world have been in galvanizing on behalf of the stricken Jewish State. Instead, Jews in the diaspora have become targets; the Jewish State’s leaders rightly regarded as butchers of babies.

Jewish supremacism, like the American exceptionalism driving the United States’ foreign policy, breeds barbarism.

Dead in the ruins of Gaza is the Israeli collective conscience—together with thousands-upon-thousands of Gaza’s civilians; dead or displaced for decades to come ~ilana

To refuse to bear witness to the prosecution of Total Warfare against Gazans—also the defining event of 2023 and the decade—is to be inhuman, insane, incoherent. To the Greek philosophers, to be mired in contradiction was to be less than human, less than coherent, less than sane ~ilana

Force-fed the fiction of the IDF as the most ethical fighting force in the universe; I set about to conduct a proportional, if limited, mathematical comparison. I compare like with like, albeit in limited but significant theaters of war: Israel’s offensive in Gaza against ‘Hamas,’ in late 2023, to America’s onslaught in Fallujah against the Iraqi resistance, in 2004. ~ilana

In their recent military campaigns, America and Israel have waged what to the inexpert, keen observer is largely old-fashioned, Third-Generation Warfare—a blitzkrieg, by any other name, against civilian populations.

The ostensible use of “tanks, mechanized infantry, and close air support” to “collapse an enemy’s defenses” are really unthinking, disproportionate shows of brute military force, reliant on massive amounts of materiel.

Yet when military mavens predicted and depicted the next form of warfare; it was the contours Fourth-Generation Warfare that they were tracing. Fourth-Generation Warfare was to be the distinguishing characteristic of the modern military. Boosted by technology, “advanced” armies would be relying on “small, highly mobile elements, composed of very intelligent soldiers, armed with high technology weapons.” These precision units and attendant weapons were expected “to range over wide areas seeking critical targets.”

In addition to technology; predicted and depicted was a military whose central impetus was augmented by ideas. In America, the controversial changing of hearts and minds, historically, has included fomenting coups around the world with the connivance afforded by psychological operations.

Near as I can tell, Fourth-Generation war was meant to be smart; to see Mind dominate and direct materiel.

What is underway in Gaza, at 2023’s end, however, is the very opposite. I see madness for what it is. Dead in the ruins of Gaza is the Israeli collective conscience—together with thousands-upon-thousands of Gaza’s civilians; dead or displaced for decades to come. The razing and ethnic cleansing of Gaza by Benjmain Netanyahu, abetted by Joe Biden, his Uniparty accomplices and a complicit West: This appears to capture the kind of Third-Gen “capability” delivered by the modern, standing, Woke military.

By an odd reversal, the Gaza offensive will do nothing to eradicate Hamas, for Hamas is not ISIS (Islamic State). ISIS is an international terrorist organization. Hamas is not. Dimly, Israeli propagandists like Dan Gillerman—former ambassador to the UN—have implied that Hamas was the same as ISIS. This particular agitator bamboozled an American news anchor, on November 30, by rasping at him that, “We are fighting for you as well as for us.” Contra Gillerman, however, Hamas had no global aspirations. While ISIS is an international terrorist organization, like it or not,

Hamas is indigenous—it is of the Palestinian People, by the Palestinian People, and for The Palestinian People, at least as these people perceive it

Israel’s blithe butchering of Gazans may change that. “Operation Swords of Iron” in the Gaza Strip not only guarantees Hamas recruits in Gaza and the West Bank for posterity; but may just see Hamas go global, given the Western world’s refusal to stop 58 days and counting of depravity.

Most Republicans and Democrats, Israel Firsters all, deploy a squalid little phrase—our “democratic values”—to allay the American taxpayer’s misgivings over the fact that we’re funding the destruction of the lives of millions of defenseless people.

The Israel Defense Forces is a deserving military partner, they intone at us, because Israel shares America’s “democratic values” (as a former fierce defender of Israel; my tongue here, now, is firmly in my cheek). Into this category falls a pillar of American virtue known as Woke. The Israeli military is Woke alright. To wit, right after October 7, the Knesset quickly minted new legal rights for gay partners, who will forthwith enjoy the financial windfall that comes with being widowed. Omer Ohana can now claim a widow’s benefits from the Israeli military following the tragic October-7 death of his betrothed partner, Sagi Golan.

Indubitably, Israel would never deprive any Palestinian man of marrying another. So far, however, the due-process rights of Palestinian detainees are spectral. In the wind, perhaps?

Most of the Palestinian prisoners released, reports the intrepid Nima Elbagir, “were held under a murky military justice system that theoretically allows Israel to hold people for indefinite periods without trial or a charge. Israel has been operating two distinct justice systems in the West Bank since it captured the area in 1967. Palestinians living there fall under the jurisdiction of Israel’s military court system, where judges and prosecutors are uniformed Israeli soldiers. Meanwhile, Jewish settlers there are subject to civilian courts.”

Have I come among lunatics? For how does indefinite “Administrative Detention,” absent due process of law, comport with the values instantiated by the Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?

Force-fed the fiction of the IDF as the most ethical fighting force in the universe; I set about to conduct a proportional, if limited, mathematical comparison. I compare like with like, albeit in limited but significant theaters of war: Israel’s offensive in Gaza against “Hamas,” in late 2023, to America’s onslaught in Fallujah against the Iraqi resistance, in 2004.

The battle in Fallujah is considered “the deadliest battle involving U.S. Marines since Vietnam.” “Eighty-two U.S. service members died during the street-by-street, house-by-house effort to clear Al Qaeda from the city.” Officially, it is described as a “battle to retake the key city of Fallujah from a violent insurgency that was taking root across Iraq after the U.S. ousted Saddam Hussein.”

Before the American invasion of Iraq, Fallujah was a compact city of about 400,000 people. “Around 700 Iraqi civilians were killed over the course of the 2004 fight for Fallujah.”

Gaza’s population is about 2.4 million strong. The administrative chaos in war-time Gaza would hamper accurate records-keeping. That considered—and not counting individuals buried beneath the rubble—approximately 15,000 Gazans have been killed by Israel. (Haaretz, Israel News, Friday, December 2, 2023)

Let’s extrapolate:

Were Fallujah as populated as Gaza (2.4 million), the United States Marines would have killed approximately 4,200 Iraqi souls. This is a far cry from the Israel Defense Forces’ butcher’s bill of 15,000 civilians dead in Gaza—and climbing.

Were Gaza as small as Fallujah (400,000); the Israelis, befitting their butcher’s bill so far, would still have killed at least 2,500 souls to our Marines’ 700. Ceteris paribus, naturally.

Let that sink in.

On the numbers, I have been exceedingly charitable to the Israelis, given that their victims, buried beneath the rubble, are still mostly unaccounted for, and considering that the IDF resumed hostilities against civilians on December 1.

Both the Israeli and the U.S. militaries come in here for rough treatment. The fulminations of the Israel Firsters stateside aside, however, some American patriotism is owed amid the sorrow over Israel’s barbaric blitzkrieg.

Damning with faint praise though this may be, Americans, in the persons of our U.S. Marines in Fallujah—in the dubious theater of another unjust war—were righteous, compared to the monstrous Israel Defense Forces in Gaza.

*Editor Ryan McMaken, with updated numbers, highlights wryly this next ratio, which speaks to the proportionality imperative of Saint Thomas Aquinas’ Just War Theory, obliterated by Israel: “The casualties ratio in this war is now more than 12 to 1. About 17.7K murdered Palestinians to 1.3K murdered Israelis. I wonder at what ratio the Gazans will have been ‘deterred’? 50 to 1? How about 100,000 dead in Gaza versus 1300 dead in Israel? That’ll teach ’em!”

†Please consider that my last four tracts on Gaza, and that scroll of a blog, “Constantly UPDATED (12/8): ‘Total Warfare’ On GAZA: War Against Civilians Is War On Civilization“—all anatomizing the war on Gazans: These are tremendously painful to write. But to refuse to bear witness to the prosecution of Total Warfare against Gazans—also the defining event of 2023 and the decade, twinned with COVID—is to be inhuman, insane, incoherent. To the Greek philosophers, to be mired in such contradiction was to be less than human, less than coherent, less than sane.

Hamas’ alleged culpability does not absolve Israel from blame. One agenda of wrongs doesn’t change another ~ilana

You can’t gussy up what’s going on in Gaza ~ilana

If you know in advance that your actions will cause the death of thousands of civilians; attached to your criminal actions (actus reus) is a guilty mind (mens rea), which means malice aforethought, also known as intent, in Western jurisprudence and judicial philosophy.

The razing of Gaza and the ongoing murder of tens of thousands of civilians by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), with western imprimatur, is a war crime. Strafing civilian populations and pulverizing entire neighborhoods to ostensibly “soften” the few embedded targets within—this violates natural law, international law, libertarian law and Just War Theory.

It was true when Genghis Bush dropped daisy cutters and cluster bombs on Iraqi civilians, killing and displacing hundreds of thousands of them; it was true when allied forces firebombed Dresden and Hamburg, and it was true when Harry Truman dropped atomic bombs on Japanese civilians.

Not that it helped his victims, but Truman icily expressed some “regret” for “the [beastly] necessity of wiping out whole populations”: “I know that Japan is a terribly cruel and uncivilized nation in warfare,” Truman told an ardent supporter, “but I can’t bring myself to believe that because they are beasts, we should ourselves act in that same manner.”

Likewise, the mildly sociopathic supporters of the war on Gaza’s civilians assert that Gaza can be “a terribly cruel and uncivilized nation in warfare,” to commandeer Truman’s elegant line. They say that the sympathies expressed by Gazans toward their neighbors, victims of the October 7 slaughter, are meager and grudging.

It is true that leadership in Egypt and Jordan is less than forthcoming as to why they refuse to welcome Gaza’s refugees into their midst as the Polish welcomed the Ukrainians. In fact, the Egyptians have no intention whatsoever of allowing Palestinians, whom they view as a radicalizing element, into their country. Like President Hosni Mubarak before him; President El-Sisi is fearful of swelling the already-swollen ranks of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Mubarak had periodically conducted mini-massacres against the Brotherhood—the organization that sired Hamas—with no particular outcry from the West.

Not that pro-war agitators know anything about the history of the region; but it is true too that, in 1970, King Hussein (ibn Talal) of Jordan massacred thousands of Palestinians for fomenting a coup against the Hashemite monarchy. The King then expelled the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) and many thousands of Palestinians to Lebanon.

Inarguably, the West’s Disneyfied, angels-and-demons foreign policy meme, whereby Hamas is an oppressor of its people, is a mirage. The Palestinian People had voted for the “Islamic Resistance Movement” (Hamas). In the last election, Hamas got a majority in all but two of the 16 districts in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. According to Mark Mellman, a pollster, “If new presidential elections were held with two candidates, Fatah’s Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh, Abbas would receive 37 percent of the vote, and Haniyeh would win in a landslide with 58 percent.” Substantial majorities in the West Bank and Gaza favor “armed conflict” over peaceful, political solutions to the conflict.

Still, these uncomfortable facts do nothing to invalidate another immutable truth: Murder with majority approval is always murder, whomever the perpetrator. Whether it is committed by actors within or without the State; by the designated “good guys” or the “bad guys”; murder of innocent, non-combatant civilians is still murder.

Thus, the razing and ethnic cleansing of Gaza by Benjmain Netanyahu, abetted by Joe Biden and his Uniparty accomplices, in the course of which tens of thousands civilians are dying: This is murder with malice aforethought, a concept that includes “deaths resulting from actions that display a depraved indifference to life.” Further depraved indifference to life was Israel’s throttling of supplies of water, food and power to the millions of aid-dependent Gazans, as Israel knows full-well this will imperil civilians indirectly.

Silly soliloquies poured into our ears about “Hamas using civilians as human shields” amount to morally bankrupt non sequiturs. True: Hamas has invited the IDF to “come get us if you can find us among Gaza’s civilians.” The IDF and its handlers, however, have accepted Hamas’ invitation to pulverize communities of civilians.

In other words, Hamas’ alleged culpability does not absolve Israel from blame. One agenda of wrongs doesn’t change another.

As to the utilitarian aspect of its mission; the IDF is handsomely equipped to fail. “To be very good at something inherently stupid,” said a great English novelist, “is not the mark of high intelligence.” In addition to betraying its own citizens by abysmally failing to defend their basic rights on October 7; the unthinking IDF has effectively bombed Gaza back to the stone age. This will do nothing to eradicate Hamas; to the contrary; it guarantees it recruits for posterity! Previous forays into the West Bank and Gaza signally failed to accomplish this mission.

Gazans, in an extremity of suffering, are instructed to “evacuate to the southern part of the strip.” That exhortation reminds me of Ivanka Trump’s counsel to men in hard hats, whose occupations had become obsolete: “Learn how to code.” “Evacuate to the southern part of the Gaza strip” is but a cruel meme, given that Gaza has been levelled. There is nowhere left to run.

Tragically, Israel has squandered much of the goodwill generated by the diabolical October 7 pogrom. In the end, Bibi has obliterated the memory of the October 7 martyrs by creating new martyrs in Gaza. Never did I think I’d say this, but Mr. Netanyahu may just find himself in the dock, in The Hague.

It’s too late now, but “Was it possible to defeat Hamas and prevent the carnage in Gaza”?

Yes. IN A HARD TRUTH PODCAST, your columnist argued that needed was a smarter, more effective response that targets only the culprits of the October 7 slaughter, and not innocents. Such a response was outlined in detail. In all circumstances, David Vance and I both agree that the US/UK interference in the region is not helpful and that REGIONALISM ALWAYS BEATS GLOBALISM.

Note that this column is penned by a systematic, antiwar rightist. It offers facts about Palestinian voting patterns and agency in order to dispel the Disney world foreign-policy worldview of the West. This antiwar argument, coming as it does from the hard, libertarian Right, is made from a place of reality, and not hippie naiveté.

The point: Whatever you might think of people as a group; ethical human-beings can never-ever endorse their wholesale murder, now underway. I have, however, since mid-October, come to see that justice is on the side of the Palestinians.

I thank my editors at TNA for standing by The Truth. https://thenewamerican.com/opinion/bibi-obliterates-memory-of-oct-7-martyrs-creates-new-martyrs-in-gaza/

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity have always stood for the Truth. As has The Mises Institute.    https://mises.org/power-market/bibi-netanyahu-may-find-himself-dock-hague

That Truth is now visible from space.

I thank my podcast partner, David Vance, for sharing a moral commitment, and, well, having the proverbial male bits so few men have.

I am still hopeful there will be others on the Right.

Alas, little has changed since Iraq. This response to the razing of Gaza has elements of an Iraq redux, where you tell the unvarnished truth, from day one, https://www.ilanamercer.com/2002/09/why-so-many-americans-don-t-support-attacking-iraq/   https://www.ilanamercer.com/2003/04/murder-by-majority/, and become persona non grata forever. Witnessed in Israel on October 7 was the utter forsaking by the State of its most elementary—and only—obligations to the citizenry: Defend their natural rights to life, liberty and property ~ilana

The Uniparty has forsaken the American border to the same digital docility to which Israelis had been forsaken. At least in Israel, an attack on the homeland is followed—however late and misguided—by a defense of the territorial homeland. An attack on the American homeland, invariably, sees our military pack up to go to … Timbuktu ~ilana

IF YOU CONSIDER THAT the IDF, Israel’s standing army, is the Middle East’s most powerful army and among the world’s top 20 military forces; then the metaphor of the Remington Rifle against slings and stones flung by indigenes lives on in Hamas’ murderous invasion of Southern Israel on October 7. Primitives against sophisticates; savagery against innocence.

From Ofakim to Ashkelon; from Magen to Zikim—the barbaric, cross-border onslaught claimed the lives of more than 1200 civilians. Two thousand Israeli souls have been injured and dozens kidnapped. Decapitation, rape and other desecration have been a feature of the orgiastic pogrom. Between them, Hamas (in the person of senior official Musa Abu Marzuk) and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad had connived to kidnap more than 130 Israeli civilians.

Perhaps unevolved forms of life is the better descriptive for Hamas, for military primitives Hamas are not. On that particular Sabbath—also the Simchat Torah celebration during Sukkot—Hamas had launched about 3000 rockets into and over Israeli communities. On its website, the not-so-intelligent Israel Defense Forces (IDF) offers up detailed “intelligence” on the terrorists’ rocket arsenal. Hamas has the long range variety (M-302), as well as the medium and short-range Grad rockets, which are old, but effective, Soviet technology.

LOW TECH

Nevertheless, this was a low-tech invasion. Hamas operatives motorbiked, paraglided, bulldozed and motorboated their way, by land and by sea, into 17 areas in Southern Israel. So much for Israel’s flimsy fences, unmanned, AI-powered machine guns and other clever, high-tech toys on the Gazan border. Post-graduate cleverness was simply no match for Hamas’ fiercely savage, hands-on guerrilla warfare.

Hamas’ low-tech operation also meant that the gang steered clear of foreign-looking plants loitering in Gaza, fat fingers stabbing at the invincible mobile device. Israeli intelligence assets are likey not that hard to spot. While Hamas deployed basic technology like cameras and sensors; they also took care to use informants that worked for their cause, not against it.

In my estimation, Israeli intelligence assets could very likely have been compromised. Israel is a progressive society recruiting for racial, sexual and cross-sexual representation, not necessarily merit and mettle. The Israelis have learned from the best, the United States of America, how to dissolve their society’s institutions in the vat of multiculturalism. All America’s satellite states are monkey-see-monkey-do appeasers on matters of “social justice.” Or, self-immolation.

Hamas’s low-tech invasion into southern Israel was also a clear demonstration of a complete failure of the State apparatus, the IDF being the face of the State. Bibi Netanyahu, prime minister, was largely in hiding during those first crucial hours.

The most candid report, sent to me, on the evening of October 7, came from my cousin, safe, thank G-d. Her words were the most truthful to date:

“Shock, betrayal, the crash of a dream; how could this happen? People are still without help or rescue. They turned to the media to call the army because there were terrorists in their homes and yards. It has been hours, and the situation has still not changed much. Total chaos.”

To my question, “Has not a war room been set up? Are not updates from the IDF and the PM’s office a constant thing on television?”

Her reply: “Nope. Nobody is talking to us. There is no point person to field questions and focus resources. People are doing the work of the army. It’s like the Wild West.”

Having lived through the 1973 War, I wrote in my “Betraying Brave Boys” column:

‘The Yom Kippur War Israel nearly lost. Israeli intelligence failed miserably. As is usually the case, the kids paid the price—a few hundred youngsters were stranded on the borders with no backup. They defended their posts heroically before being gruesomely slaughtered. Many were dismembered. When that war ended, Remembrance Day swelled to include another 2,523 casualties—about one-tenth of one percent of the population was dead. Thousands more were wounded. The casualty estimates for Egypt and Syria were 16,000.’

Egyptian President Anwar Saddat, however, attacked the Israeli military; not the citizenry. Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir took the blame for what a literate Israeli population had dubbed המחדל (hamechdal). Mechdal is Hebrew for a deep, systemic failure. As I recently read (in a badly written tome, Golda: Biographia, purported to be in Hebrew, but assaulting the language with ugly Anglicisms), to blame were the generals, who refused to consider that Arab armies had massed on all Israel’s borders for anything other than a regional rave. Innocent military maneuvers, the generals asserted.

Back in 1973, Israeli society was not yet as riven by division as it is today—divisions that mirror the gashes that have opened up in American society, and, by and large, have been exported by it.

MAGA AND ISRAEL

America exports the woke worldview and many an idée fixe abroad. With these come the same tensions. Malign MAGA-hating meddlers stateside, such as Alexsander Vindman, a Democrat who somehow made colonel in the US army, blame the Israeli Right for societal tensions. From where I’m perched, the July riots and demonstrations in Israel appeared to have originated in ANTIFA-like hysteria, in which parliamentary checks-and-balances on an overweening judiciary were rejected.

Parliament had democratically reduced the powers of a woke, hyperactive judiciary. The Knesset had reclaimed some power of representation. Over this, the usual Israeli and American culprits were fulminating, for Israel’s Supreme Court better serves ultra-progressive forces than its Parliament, which represents a variegated people.

To Israel’s great credit, and unlike America’s Antifa, Israeli Wokerati were not howling, stripping, discussing and twerking their reproductive orifices, inventing pronouns, and burning the country down. At least some of these functions a treacherous State left for Hamas to do.

TREASON

Witnessed in Israel on October 7 was the utter forsaking by the State of its most elementary—and only—obligations to the citizenry: Defend their natural rights to life, liberty and property.

Seventy-two hours on, and a top banana for the Israeli Defense Forces was blaming Hamas for duping Israeli “experts.” D’oh! Why of course: After all, it is expected that a blood-lusting cabal of satanical sub-humans would apprise targets of its comings-and-goings.

Ok, but if you’re deaf and dumb, why not heed Egyptian intelligence, whose officials now claim Israel ignored repeated warnings that “something big” was going down? Google the phrase “What went wrong?” and you’ll discover that the patsy press has received Israeli officialdom’s memo. The efforts of the State to deflect blame, to reject responsibility for treason, have begun. Thus was Danny Dannon, another top banana, recounting to BBC’s HARDtalk what terrible characters are the Hamasniks. D’oh! Again.

Stendhal, a French writer, said there was no hypocrisy in mathematics. Hamas is mathematically honest about what it wants to do to all Jews.

It is the custodians of Israeli security whose calculus is off. If you correctly think Hamas is so horrible, why had Israel opted to deploy gizmos to the border with Gaza?

DEPLOYING GIZMOS TO GAZA

As your columnist divulged in 2008, Israel opted for “Robo-Snipers” instead of flesh-and-blood men and women. The nation’s “19- and 20-year-old soldiers” were still deployed to the front—but virtually. They sit at a safe distance “behind computer screens,” waiting on “approval by a commanding officer” before “pushing the kill button.”

Yes, Israel automated the process of defense against Gaza, creating a set of “auto kill-zones” “by networking together remote-controlled machine guns, ground sensors, and drones along the 60-kilometer border.”

Gizmos are useless against the stuff of Gaza—and Latin America, for that matter. In 2005, with great enthusiasm from the Israeli Left, Gaza was given over to the dogs of war, Hamas and their avid constituents. Despite the fertile, coastal land they were handed, the precious ground water they sit on, and generous international assistance, the place soon went to the dogs. Egypt, Jordan and Israel are all terrified to open their borders to the seething snake pit that is Gaza.

It matters not whether you think the cauldron of cruelty that is Gaza created its inhabitants or whether it’s the obverse. The reality is that every nation in the region fears the Gazans. Nobody in the region wants immigrants from Gaza—although given the US Uniparty’s appetite for progressive, smug preening (aka treason); one can envisage Gaza being air lifted to America by the same Special Ops forces who rushed to import Afghanistan. In any event, hearth and home are best defended by men, military or militia, on the ground, carrying guns and grenades.

Besides, all defense systems are fallible and finite in their capacity. Air-defense systems fail. The Russians have the best possible air-defense system, yet they too, on occasion, are overwhelmed by barrages of British cruise missiles supplied to a flailing Ukraine.

If military experts were doing the work currently done by neophyte chicklet reporters; they’d explain, in newspapers like The Hill, that no defense system can intercept 3000 missiles lobbed all at once. Instead of military experts, alas, we have girls cutting-and-pasting from Wikipedia about Israel’s Iron Dome air missile defense system.

Digital docility was never going to ward off a hissing enclave like Gaza, where people, young and old, writhe in hate (watch the children of Gaza bully a Jewish little boy held captive).

GEOPOLITICS

Hamas’ invasion occurred against the backdrop of geopolitical subterfuge, which had served to marginalize Hamas. The US is forever doing the bidding of the murderous Saudis. At the behest of (Bret Baier and) the United States Uniparty; Saudi Arabia and Israel were forming an axis of sorts. The recognition of the Jewish State might have been in the offing. Cynicism aside, Bret Baier, lightweight Fox News neoconservative host, with the War Street Journal, have been waxing fat about the majesty of the Kingdome, a veritable Disney Land on the Desert, and its ruthless ruler in Riyadh, promoting the regime to their viewers and readers.

More threatening to the neocons were the tentative peace efforts underway between Iran, a reliable neoconservative bogeyman, and the Saudis. The neoconservative-favored dispensation in the region had been threatened. U.S. neocons and their clones and apostles do not wish to see the emergence of strong regional powers, which could serve as a counterweight to the Unites States’ malign influence in the Middle-East.

Not so long ago, Israel had maintained an oil pipeline with Iran—we still don’t quite know the provenance of the oil flowing in the pipes of the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Co (EAPC), as the information is subject to a military gag order. But, cui bono? In whose interests are these Middle-eastern feuds forever more?

In an effort to strengthen regional diplomacy, Israel had tried in vain to resist becoming embroiled with the Empire’s Ukrainian client state. So intent was Israel on remaining neutral on Ukraine that it incurred Rumpelstiltskin’s ire. Zelenskyy, in high-dudgeon (and high-heels), had warned Israel that “Putin would help Iran go nuclear” if Israel were to remain neutral in the conflict. For, Israel had “not only refused to sell its Iron Dome missile defense system to Ukraine, but it also blocked the U.S. from sending Iron Dome batteries owned by the U.S. Army to Kyiv.”

As always, resistance and nascent regionalism proved futile in the face of U.S. pressure. Israel soon fell in line, although, to its credit, the Jewish State has been consistent and energetic in offering to negotiate with Russia, a regional power the US wants neutered, but with which Israel must get along.

Not unlike the United States, Hamas aims to disrupt any productive, cooperative alliances arising out of the forging of regional powers in the Middle East, and has thus made its malign presence felt. Colonel Vindman, aforementioned, and the neoconservative claque—piping up are Pompeo, Pence, Haley and Graham—have had their way with Russia with respect to foreign policy. Now that the appeal of the Ukraine project is fading; the neoconservatives will want to keep Iran in their sights.

Republicans, almost to a man—the likes of Darrell Issa and Tim Scott having been vocal on the matter—already blame Iran for Hamas’ murderous spree, without solid proof, although proof will in time be manufactured, as it was for the invasion of Iraq. What it did for the invasion of Iraq, the War Street Journal will diligently do to gin-up regime change in Iran.

TREASON IN THE HOMELAND

Here in America, death waylays us daily, due to similarly treacherous forces. Except that the carnage stateside is a daily drip-drip of racially driven murders and maimings. These deaths Americans have been habituated to accept—for everywhere and always, institutionalized treason is aided by an Orwellian Ministry of Truth.

The carnage in our country results from the prying open of the borders and the jails; from a promiscuous legal immigration system that privileges the undeveloped underclasses, and from the inversion and nullification of the country’s laws, so that ordered liberty cannot be sustained.

The Uniparty has forsaken the American border to the same digital docility to which Israelis had been forsaken. At least in Israel, an attack on the homeland is followed—however late and misguided—by a defense of the territorial homeland. An attack on the American homeland, invariably, sees our military pack up to go to … Timbuktu.

WATCH
HARD TRUTH. My colleague David Vance and I anatomize the backdrop to Hamas’ pogrom, including the geopolitical and domestic forces at play, as well as the fraught history of the Gaza strip. Ilana lived through the 1967 and 1973 wars in Israel; David through the IRA terrorist onslaughts in Ireland. We also examine the “ethics,” or lack thereof, of collective punishment by the State.

There was a great cry throughout the land. Non-stop propaganda from a monolithic media-military- congressional complex had convinced a petrified people of the need for a military offensive in Iraq and Syria, in pursuit of a pack of wild dogs: the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS or ISIL). A plurality of Americans canvassed has indicated that it is in the United States’ interest to take military action against ISIS.

The people wailed and railed. The Leader, they complained, lacked a plan to combat this force, which, they had been told, posed a grave existential threat to them. The war network led in jingoism. What precisely did President Barack Obama say that had Chucky Krauthammer and the chicken hawks in the Fox News coop so exercised? He told reporters that he didn’t have a strategy yet for confronting ISIS “on a regional level.” Anchor Megyn Kelly—her show has degenerated into a rah-rah, flag-waving, hour-long session, bemoaning diminished US world hegemony—poured scorn on one wag’s non-combative suggestion: Let the Arab League deal with ISIS.

Throughout, ISIS’s neighbors, Israel included, didn’t seem particularly concerned about the barbarians at the gate. The promise of eternal American intervention had, likely, enabled inertia and apathy among regional players.

Despotism and populism finally coalesced. Driven by polls and craving plaudits from the pundits, the president cobbled together a strategy. Within hours, love was in the air again. Members of a lovelorn liberal media scurried about like teens on prom night. It had been a long time since they felt the same rush about Obama. In his televised address to the nation, the president committed to increasing the ongoing airstrikes in Iraq; said he would take the fight to ISIL in Syria, too. The hormonal monitors at CNN spiked with each paternal promise of protection. “If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven,” roared Big Daddy.

Gullible Americans did not seem to compute that King Hussein’s commitment to take care of them was preposterous. Consider: “The FBI’s most recent national threat assessment for domestic terrorism” did not even mention the threat of Islamist terror. Like his predecessor, this president and his malevolent minions consider the signal danger to the homeland (i.e. to their reign) to emanate from local yokels: “anti-government militia groups,” “white supremacy extremists,” “sovereign citizen nationalists,” and, naturally, “Puerto Rican nationalists.” And, while He has thrown a bone to the ISIS-obsessed boneheads at home, the homeland’s southern border remains, by His decree, open to all.

Easily the most ludicrous aspect of Dr. Feelgood’s “plan” is the promise of “military assistance to the Syrian opposition”: “I again call on Congress, again, to give us additional authorities and resources to train and equip these fighters.”

There is no telling the good Syrian opposition from the bad. If anything, there is a “growing preponderance of radical Islamists in the Syrian rebel force fighting Assad’s army,” seconds the outstanding intelligence provider DEBKAfile. Currently fighting ISIS is Bashar Hafez al-Assad, Syria’s embattled leader, whom Hussein, McCain and Clinton wanted to unseat.

The unseating of yet another extremely effective law-and-order leader, Saddam Hussein, is what unleashed ISIS. Despite what Delphic Oracle Dana Perino says in praise of her “prescient” boss’s “strategizing”; Bush 43 owns ISIS. Iraq has gone from a rogue state to a failed state, where mad dogs thrive. Fidelity to historical fact demands that Bush get Brownie points for that.

Mere weeks back, when Israel and Hamas were locking horns, two organic coalitions emerged in the Middle East. By DEBKAfile’s telling, the one “regional coalition” in the conflict included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi King Abdullah, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi, the UAE ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and … the Palestinian Authority’s Mahmoud Abbas. The rival axis consisted of Hamas, Qatar, Turkey and a turkey named Kerry (John). U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and “a brace of European ministers” joined this last group, known in the neighborhood as the “Save Hamas Squad.”

The first alliance was borne of “Netanyahu’s dilemma: Back Obama’s save Hamas policy, or fight for its downfall with Egypt and Saudis.”

My point? America thinks that it must and can be a force for good in the Middle East. Closer examination suggests that the region’s players march to their own drumbeat. In “Empires of the Sand: The Struggle for Mastery in the Middle East 1789-1923,” Efraim and Inari Karsh marshaled prodigious scholarship to show that, “Twentieth-century Middle Eastern history is essentially the culmination of long-standing indigenous trends, passions, and patterns of behavior rather than an externally imposed dictate.” The trend obtains.

American efforts notwithstanding, Assad is hanging on for dear life. The Israeli government is already endeavoring to “radically change its tack on Syria, reversing a policy and military strategy that were long geared to opposing Syrian President Bashar Assad.” U.S. meddlers should grow a brain too and quit degrading the Syrian Army. Leave ISIS to Syria, Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Let the locals take out their trash.

Nowadays, celebrity, champagne-swilling generals give the order to chubby men in armored machines, who then bomb the anthills from above and afar.  The truth is that modern, standing armies are commandeered by cowards ~ilana

In “Letters from Iceland,” W. H. Auden reflected on “the cold controlled ferocity of the human species.” The latest flare-up in the cold war between Hamas and Israel is “an extraordinary vision” of that ferocity.

For Americans, who’ve been reduced to near penury by their politicians, there is, however, some good news.

To the cheers of his Israel-first constituency, Mitt Romney would have escalated the conflict between Hamas and Israel, using it to aggrandize his devotion to Israel. Conversely—and probably by default—Barack Obama has helped to empower Egypt to act as a regional power.

Hamas is a rib from the Muslim Brotherhood’s ribcage. It is only right that Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy assume a lead in the negotiations between the parties. Indeed, “Hamas listens to Mohamed Morsy,” seconded Fawaz Gerges, a professor of international relations and Middle East analyst at the London School of Economics. “Hamas looks up to Egypt now, at this particular stage, and that is why Egypt has emerged as the most important state vis-a-vis Hamas and Gaza.”

And Morsy has manned-up.BBC News confirmed that:

“Egyptian Foreign Minister Kamel Amr announced the ceasefire at a news conference in Cairo with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who joined negotiations on Wednesday. … Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had agreed to a U.S. suggestion ‘to give a chance to Egypt’s proposal for a ceasefire and so give an opportunity to stabilize the situation and calm it …'”

“Obama’s America has taken a backseat in yet another conflict,” the neocons will cavil. Rejoice, for the more forlorn neoconservatives are, the better off we the people are.

Ultimately, when regional players are forced to face one another, they are more likely to reconcile.

As much as she’d like to will the world into thinking she has been indispensable in negotiating the Israeli-Palestinian (fragile) ceasefire, the outgoing U.S. secretary of state arrived in the region well after rumors had spread that an agreement was being brokered by Mohamed Morsy.

Hillary, whose game is up because of Benghazi, is eager to salvage her political reputation. In the fullness of time, I believe, it will transpire that the woman who cracks the whip at Foggy Bottom had decided to leave the U.S. embassy in Libya undefended.

The open community center she was running there was meant to signal that the war on Libya, Hillary’s special project, was a success. (Recall, Libya was a war of the womb, a product of the romantic minds of three women who fantasized about an Arab awakening. This estrogen-driven paternalism on steroids began, as in Greek mythology, with the Gorgon sisters. Medusa’s posse included Samantha Power, and U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice. They helped Hillary devise the casus belli for the war.)

The locking of horns between Hamas and Israel cost 150 Palestinians and five Israelis their lives. The fight was started by Hamas. Hamas hides among unwitting civilians, who have no way of controlling its activities. This fact does not give Israel the right to kill innocent non-combatants, not even unintentionally.

Besides, murder is not “unintentional” when you know it is inevitable.

To make matters worse, Gazans are helpless—they are without siren systems to warn them of an impending attack, or bomb shelters in which to hide.

After its 2006 Lebanon fiasco, I proposed that Israel deploy the best of its special-operations units. Israeli commandos such as the “Sayeret Matkal” are trained in surgical strikes, including modern urban counterterrorism operations. “Sayeret” soldiers can trace and neutralize the source of an attack against Israeli civilians sans “collateral damage.”

Yes, what’s the matter with Israel’s Special Operations capabilities? Where are Israel’s precision Pac Men? Did the Israel Defense Forces rain bombs, willy-nilly, on the civilians at the Entebbe Airport—in Uganda, on July 4, 1976—where the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine held 100 hijacked Jews and Israelis hostage?

Not on your life.

Led by Lt. Col. Yonatan Netanyahu, Bibi Netanyau’s late great brother, 100 members of the “Sayeret” traversed 2,500 miles to rescue their brethren. They killed only those who needed killing.

It used to be that leaders like “Yoni” Netanyahu charged with their men into battle. Not anymore. Nowadays, celebrity, champagne-swilling generals give the order to chubby men in armored machines, who then bomb the anthills from above and afar.

The truth is that modern, standing armies are commandeered by cowards.
